Global Entry is soooo worth it
Got the GE card for $100. reimbursed by Amex Platinum. What a great program. The other day my DH and I came in from CDG to Terminal B in EWR. I was through via GE in less than a minute. My DH does not have it and had to wait on the line. While he was waiting I took the shuttle to the off site parking, picked up our car and returned to the airport to pick him up and I still had to wait 10 minutes for him. What a time saver it is especially if you are coming in to Term B at EWR. I usually travel 4 or 5x a year without DH so for me it is a lifesaver. Definatly apply for it and let Amex reimburse you.

The card worked in lieu of a passport with the land crossing into the US at Blaine, Washington, for me. Couldn't try the Nexus lane since the other person in the car didn't have one.

When using the "Ready Lane", all vehicle occupants need RFID documents.
- Use of the NEXUS vehicle lanes into the United States in accordance with the NEXUS program rules.
- Use of the SENTRI vehicle lanes in accordance with the SENTRI program rules, and only when in a SENTRI-approved vehicle.
- Use of the SENTRI pedestrian lanes in accordance with the SENTIR program rules.
I am unaware of any sea benefits associated with the GE card though it would make sense to accord NEXUS sea benefits to GE cardholders when traveling into the United States. In no cases is the GE card valid for NEXUS benefits when traveling into Canada.

Not everyone is eligible. Here are some possible reasons for ineligibility, according to this page:
Reasons for Ineligibility
Applicants may not qualify for participation in the Global Entry program if they:
Provide false or incomplete information on the application;
Have been convicted of any criminal offense or have pending criminal charges or outstanding warrants;
Have been found in violation of any customs, immigration or agriculture regulations or laws in any country;
Are subjects of an ongoing investigation by any federal, state or local law enforcement agency;
Are inadmissible to the United States under immigration regulation, including applicants with approved waivers of inadmissibility or parole documentation;
Cannot satisfy CBP of their low-risk status (e.g. CBP has intelligence that indicates that the applicant is not low risk; CBP cannot determine an applicant's criminal, residence or employment history); and/or;
Are subject to National Security Entry Exit Registration System (NSEERS) or other special registration programs.

In context, the question was to Mileena, who implied that somel citizens (that meet the qualification criteria) should not be eligible. If there's some reason that we should further limit eligibility, I'd like to know what it is.

I've been using GE for about 3 years now. I have never received a card just the CBP sticker on the last page of my passport. Is the card something new? Something I have to request?

Yes, login to your GOES account with DHS and there should be a button that says "request card" under your Global Entry membership. As I recall, there's a $15 fee for issuing the card.
