Carry on. LAMP

I have a small desk lamp, standard lamp.

Can I do a carry on with that in my duffel bag?

Lamp in question:

Not sure I understand your response.

Will the item be allowed?

I don't think they will inspect my person more than usual, just the lamp.

That's a nice looking lamp! I can't imagine how it could ever be construed to be a threat to aviation. My guess is that it might inspire a second look, but I can't imagine it wouldn't be allowed, but then again, I am a reasonable person. Reasonableness does not seem to have much to do with SOP. Perhaps one of our resident TSO's might respond if this isn't SSI

I doubt it will be a problem.

I would suggest that you make sure the batteries are fresh because you may be asked to turn it on since it is a bit different.

Neat lamp.

If it's like other lamps, then it'll have a weighted base -- this can cause it to shield other items in the carry-on it's in. I would recommend pulling it out of your carry-on and putting into the x-ray separately. That way, if the base does cause a shield, they can run their test on it and do a physical inspection without having to go into your bag. This saves time for you, and for us.

Once all is said and done, I have serious doubts that it would give you any kind of problem otherwise.

And I see I was only about twelve hours late with that. Sorry!
