How do passengers with embedded weapons clear security?

This man survived with a knife in his head for 4 years:

In some other situations removal of a weapon in the body may actually endanger the life of the person, so how would the TSA deal with a passenger whose medical recommendation may be to not remove the weapon for reason of concerns about further complications?

Imagine the most embarrassing, intrusive, painful way this could be dealt with. Now double it. You're getting close...

undetected.
