significant amount of cash through security
I will be flying from Philly to London soon and will have a significant amount of cash with me.
What is the best way to secure it during the check-point inspections. If selected for extra pat downs etc, I don't want to have the money stolen by either other passengers or the TSA.
thanks,
Tom

What's significant? 100k? 50k?
I've taken 9k through many times, and just try to make sure it's on my person. Internationally you may have to fill out forms and declare the amount you're taking.

It is going to be around $8,500. for some it is not that much money.
But when one goes through either the metal detector or the nude-o-scope, you are not allowed to have anything in your pockets, not even a wallet.
What do I do with all the cash. I don't want it stolen.

When I travel with a lot of cash (usually international), I put most of it in a compartment in my computer bag. I do this at home or way before I reached Security. I used to carry it on my person but not since the NOS. I have never had a problem. I don't know if the Xray machine can see the cash but I have never been questioned. My computer bag is a wheeled case with many compartments so it's not easy for somebody to find the cash. Of course somebody can walk off with it but I have never lost anything going through security.

Especially with $$$$$$$
If they even let you do that. You know how many clerks say the website is out of date

8.5k is easy enough. I usually split it up, and put half in a sealed envelope, deep inside my carryon bag, the other half in my wallet. When I carry anything over a few thousand, I'll usually have a shirt with a concealed inner pocket that I keep the big money wallet in. I've never done NOS yet, and hope to never had to do it. Never had a problem going through the normal screening with it.
I don't think my wallet would be able to close.

I carried more than 5 large out of BWI yesterday in my wallet, which was in the front pocket of my backpack. Through TSA, nothing said and I was not stopped.
I do have a giant oversized wallet. That thing carries about 10-15 cards.

I would put it in a sealed envelope, wrapped that in a shirt, put that in the bottom of your carryon and lock the carryon on with a lock that is NOT TSA approved. Do that long before you get to the checkpoint.
If they need to go through your carryon, they will will have to wait until you're present to open it and the likelihood of it being seen anyway is slimmer than if it was just thrown in your bag or kept on your person.
With that said, if you choose to opt out or are forced to have a resolution patdown after NOS, demand that they bring your bag to you. Keep your bags in view at all times.

The best approach is to "hide in plain sight.". Just put it in a normal-looking carry-on along with everything else. Do the packing long before you get to the airport. DO NOT draw attention to it. Don't declare it to a screening clerk and don't request a private screening.

Keep it in your pocket if you go through the WTMD. (just ignore their barking to empty your pockets) (you didn't hear them)
