Took two TSOs on Friday @ IAD.
First TSO: (after lengthy study of both sides) "Who issued it this?" Me: DHS First TSO:, "Do you have something else, like a passport or DL?" Me: "It's #3 on your site and #7 on your SOP." First TSO: "I'll have to call a supervisor--are you sure you want to wait?" Me: "I've got nearly two hours before my flight, so no problem." This willingness to wait on my part clearly threw her for a loop. So instead of summoning a supervisor, she showed it to another TSO. First TSO: "Have you ever seen one of these?" Second TSO: "No, but it's valid. It's from when we did the CLEAR program, and even though we don't do CLEAR anymore, the IDs are still fine." First TSO: "Okay--sorry for the delay." Me: "No problem; thanks for being patient and checking." So still a bit of confusion at IAD. No, I didn't correct the TSO who thought the NEXUS card was a CLEAR card. ;) Return today via JAX, and the JAX TSO didn't even bat an eye. Looked at it for maybe 3 seconds, confirming name matched the BP, and sent me on my way. ^ |

I sometimes ask, "How is it that your having never seen one invalidates it?" They will then pass it around asking if anyone has ever seen one. I usually just ask for a supervisor at this point. On occasion even the supervisor has not seen one and I have to go up yet another level. |
NEXUS card for better SDOO
Has anyone got a better result vis a vis scanner versus WTMD when using a Nexus / Global Entry / Sentri card as ID because it tells the document checker that you are a trusted traveler?

One would hope that as TSA rolls out their "trusted traveler" program that it will result in less hassling, but I do not exactly put much faith in that yet. |
A few recent results:

My Nexus card was refused twice last week at SFO T2, both times checked with supervisor and no problem getting through after it was confirmed.
