My main objection to these machines is that they use the wrong technique, and therefore, will not be effective at the job at hand. All scientists know that you should always use appropriate methodology, or you will get bad results, risking not finding what you are looking for and uncovering a whole bunch of stuff you wont know what to do with. If you want to detect explosives, you should look for a specific set of chemicals that can be explosive, not check for any form of object just above peoples skin.

And that is exactly why 3-1-1 + using the x-ray to detect so-called liquid explosives should be condemned, and so should the Idiot who mandated such policy.

Well, the new TSA Idiot in Charge doesn't seem to engaging the public so I'm betting things at TSA will just continue going down the sewer.

Maybe Canada is starting to get it:

When you do a body scan, immediately you will have enemies, said Yeffet, noting that some travellers will oppose scans based on privacy, others, including Muslim, travellers may cite modesty.

He's probably right. I expect some disgruntled father or boyfriend to go postal on the TSA, after scanning his wife/daughter/son without permission. Remember the 12 year old girl at Orlando a couple of weeks ago. The TSA boys and girls are probably in greater danger than the traveling public.
