DTW TSA additional gate screenings....

make me feel SO SAFE. I'm so afraid to fly anymore. You never know when some underwear or shoe bomber or female maxipad bomber is going to take my life away.

WWWHHHHHHAAAAAA WWWWWHHHHHHHAAAAAAA WWWWHHHHHHAAAAA

(yes that was sarcasm for the sarcasm impaired)

As I'm waiting to board my connection in DTW today I was totally amazed that everyone I witnessed get pulled over for additional screening at DTW was so FRAKING OLD that I'm sure a whole bottle of Geritol ingested while inflight wouldn't give these people enough energy to bumrush the cockpit or even be able to unbutton their pants or even bend over to touch their shoes.

What's with the additional gate screenings at DTW on people who are obvioulsy not terrorists? OBVIOUSLY White OLD Men and Women aren't going to blow up a plane.

I hope this TSA theater made all those nonfrequent flyers feel SAFE today.

It really doesn't matter who they were pulling aside, this disgusting harassment should not be happening at all. Please file a complaint with TSA, your airline, and your elected representatives.

I think that people of ANY color can make plans to blow up a plane. I agree that older folks most likely wouldn't have the want or need to do such a thing. They just want to get whereever they are going, like all of us. SSSHHHHH, don't tell that to the TSA though, they think even babies in diapers might blow planes up. To their (TSA) thinking the elderly have one up on babies though. They are about eighty years ahead of babies in their thinking. (bolding mine)

Does Red Bull come in 3 oz containers? One of those might help.. Of course a case of Rabies would be even more effective.

Old ladies are the PERFECT target for "random" screening:
They're less likely to make a fuss
And it makes it look like they aren't discriminating.

If I were the screener, I'd pick the little, frail Chinese 80-year-old. She won't pick a fight, you won't find anything, and you can feel like you're saving lives.

Senior Citizens are also more likely to vote.

Aside from that, they're unlikely to create a fuss and if they're infrequent travelers, it may give them the "safe" security theater feeling.

Yes, you have to do yourselves reports to FSD at DTW. TSA could be fired from their job or subject to get disciplinary actions against TSO. They are not allowed go to near the passengers & crew, too. It will get too much problems with TSA for most the time. I am not aware of TSA is not jurisdictions against the passengers hassle. TSA will not permitted go near the gates anymore. Just leave the passengers alone.

+1

Pure security theater... When will the madness end? How about TSA add some additional screening for their employee's.. Maybe they will find they have a few more perverts, kiddie porn distributors, or people with violent crime arrests...

When TSA is dismantled and the former employees discover that "crack whore" and "gigolo" are better entries on a CV/Resume than TSA.

I hate gate screenings, expecially if on a Southwest flight. You do every possible to get a low boarding number, I check in 24 hours to the minunte still only get A27 board group.
If TSA pulls you out of line as you board you loose your place to get a seat.
Also, TSA now in some cases stops people walking around the airport wanting to see your ticket. At one airport I got pulled for this, I was in a different concouse then my flight was departing and he wanted to know what I was doing. At this airport once oyu clear security you have access to the whole airport regardless of what airline you are flying on. The bottom line is If I have a same day ticket I can go where I want to go.
Some concourses have better dinning options.

Great, now the TSA is playing Hall Monitor.

Meanwhile, they make the top three in this week's Strange But True at AviationWeek.com.
