I had my LD service terminated in June. Use calling cards, BigZoo.com and 10-15-335. It costs $1.04 not to have LD here in Wyo. MCI wanted me back, offering 5K Delta. Got them up to 10K United. Still didn't switch back. Too much hassle helping them remember to post the miles. Dump MCI and don't take their first offer to get you back.

Hi Pierre! You're the first Wyomingite I've seen since I joined this board several months ago. Do you fly out of a small airport and do you ever find deals? I try to fly out of Cody, but usually can't get great rates. Do you have any tricks or suggestions?
Thanks,

In my experience, the best you can do is keep switch back and forth. MCI, et al are just not willing/able to do retention bonuses. So you're better off getting some miles on sprint or miles/cash on AT&T.
After you have been gone for a while, MCI will offer you miles to come back. That's almost a certainty. There also was a thread about 25K miles offers on MCI, so see if you can get that. But you're going to have to have a fling with another long distance carrier in order to make MCI jealous!
I have switched back and forth for about 7 years and I called MCI/Continental airlines and the automated attendant said I had gotten over 100,000 miles since I started.
I have also gotten about $900 in checks from AT&T. I still can't believe they're both still offering me stuff.

On March 24, MCI offered me a 15000-Delta-mile retention bonus for my four lines and hefty long-distance bills. Never posted. I called repeatedly and spoke to many different people, including supervisors. Some called me a liar, one bozo saying that MCI doesn't "bribe" customers to stay with them! The supervisors could see the record of the offer and promised to resubmit the miles. Each time Delta tried to post them, the MCI rep rejected it, saying that I had gotten too many bonus miles already (just 13,000!). Finally, Delta just gave me the miles themselves! They got tired of fighting with MCI on my behalf. We had at least three long conference calls, which Delta documented, where MCI made a promise but didn't keep it.
Don't believe anything they say. I'm not even sure that a second switch back to MCI will produce miles anymore. Anyway, I stay with them because of low rates and pretty reliable service.
