Thanks so much, Johnny, Pedro, and Andrea!
That is a good idea - stick to a taxi from the airport. Being a solo traveler, don't go outside the terminal to try to find a better fare.
The trip to San Isidro should be between 20 and 40 minutes depending on traffic.

It surprised me that there would be a bus company in that area in San Isidro, so I checked their webpage and the address is actually Av. Javier Prado (Oeste) 1109, La Victoria. In San Isidro, the portion of Javier Prado is 'Este'. Make sure you give the taxi driver the correct address.
Also, La Victoria is not the nicest district. Be careful with pickpocketers around the bus terminal. Have a good trip.

OK, we are getting confused here. It is most definitely Javier Prado Este, on the La Victoria side of the avenue. San Isidro has parts of both JP Oeste and Este.
The taxi driver will definitely know where to go if you just say "Estacin Cruz del Sur en Javier Prado" (btw, it's Sur, not Sol).

Have a nice trip!

You are right. It is Este in la Victoria.

There is a prepaid taxi stand as soon as you leave customs. It is safe. They charge $25 or so to Miraflores.

I've never had a problem walking at night in Miraflores, but I'm young, not flashily dressed, and big. A bad target overall.

If you are uncomfortable, use taxis. And don't bring valuables out at night in case you are mugged.

Cruz del Sur is near Ormeo and Tepsa. These 3 bus companies are located in La Victoria, not the nicest district that's right, but fortunately that is not the worst part of La Victoria (you cross Javier Prado and you are in San Isidrio). Anyway those are streets where you must take care, but they are not so dangerous. It also depends on the time you are. Late nights are not recommendable to walk around.

And yes, there is a bus company in San Isidro, it's Oltursa (Av. Aramburu), a good company too as Cruz del Sur and Ormeo are.

Taxi to Miraflores

Hi,

I'll be arriving at LIM late evening (10:20pm) and will need transfer to the Hilton in Miraflores.

The Hilton offered their car service for s/ $135 (which is roughly $50 US, right?).

Will taxi be readily available and low hassle at that time of night? Or can anyone recommend a car service that would be less pricey than the Hilton's?

Anita

Taxi Green charges ~45 soles to Miraflores. You can find them after leaving the arrivals hall.

Taxi Green provides a very good service. Their counter is inside the terminal, just before you leave the arrivals area. If you walk outside, you will find several people offering informal taxi service. Be careful not to use them - stick with a reputable taxi provider.

You can also arrange your return trip to the airport with the taxi driver. Just let them know when and where you need to be picked up. Depending where you are staying and the time of the day of your departure, it might take more than 90 minutes to travel from Miraflores to the airport. Take that into account when you make your return plans.

Thanks for the suggestion. My husband comes in two days after the rest of us, so maybe I can prearrange his ride with my driver.

We will be going from hilton miraflores to LIM on Sunday around 11am. How long would you expect that to take?

11am on a Sunday will not be bad at all. Remember people in Lima go to sleep late, especially on weekends. That means, a lot of people are just waking up at the time you'll be traveling to the airport. From Miraflores, I'd think it won't take more than 30~40 minutes to get to the airport at that time. Last month I took a taxi from Miraflores to the airport at 6:00 pm on a Friday, and it took almost 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there.

Highly recommended driver

We used Fernando Sarria Garcia ([email protected]) for two round trip transfers from the airport to the Sheraton in Lima. He was extremely courteous, always on time and he charged half the going rate.

Just got back from CUSLIM. Used Green Taxi to CBD (San Isidro, Novotel) and cost 40 soles (30 min, no highway). English not great (nor my Spanish) but we worked my return for the next day during drive and he showed about 15 minutes early. No problems with fare or timeliness--seatbelts work too as got into minor fender bender with a car sitting in intersection. Apparently yelling at each other and settling for 80 soles!?!?! [with visible damage] after 30 minutes is legit there. I'd recommend them nonetheless--stuck to published fare (bring cash), seatbelts, on time.
