Earning on Aeremexico

Wow, so confusing. I will give them credit though, it's been easy as pie to earn status on them.
I have a question if ANYONE knows this though...
I purchased a business class ticket to EU for this coming January to get a jumpstart on my points earning. However, I purchased the ticket on Delta's website due to the pricing being awesome.
The flights are all on Air France though. So, I'm confused as to how this earns. If it's by distance or by fare.

Usually, when I buy tickets on Delta and credit them to Aeromexico's program, the total earn ends up being nearly 2.5x. I'm curious if this will do the same.

Honestly I think that Aeromexico has had a shift in its program. I did enough travel that in previous years, I would have easily qualified for Platinum, and checking my status for next year, I am well short of the mark. In the end, since it really doesn't affect my travel, I didn't check it too closely.
It seems like AM is basing miles of Spend more than distance, as a number of identical trips in identical class are all earning different miles...

Yes, the earning points are now based on spend, not on distance flown, this is in line with all majors U.S. based airlines practice.

that's correct. When flying partners, it's still based on distance flown, etc.

Correct, but to reach top tier elite level at Aeromexico, you need to accrue at least 80% of all your points from Aeromexico metals.
