Egyptair problems...what to do???
I had a terrible experience with Egyptair and I'am asking your advise on how to proceed to get reimbursed...
Shortly this is the story:
a) booked tickets from their internet website
b) payment has been processed and my Credit card account has been debited for the full amount (approx. 1000)
c) I didn't receive any email of confirmation
d) Called the egyptair support they gave me the reservation number of the trip, however, no e-ticket was issued.
e) called again egyptair and reported the fact that I just had the reservation number and no email with confirmation of eticket number, egyptair told me that they had some IT problems and were unable to send me eticket numeber, but there would be no problem to get the flight
f) went to the airport to get the flight but at check in egyptair personnel denied me to take the flight since they stated that ticket was automatically cancelled by the system and no eticket has ever been issued.
g) went to ticket office of egyptair and they told me that no new ticket could have been issued since the flight was fully booked
h) went home(((
I'm an elite plus frequent flyer and sincerly such a situation ever happened to me. As a result I:
a) couldn't take the flight and had to renounce at my holidays
b) have my credit card account debited for 1000 and couldn't get the flight
c) had to pay the first night of the hotel at my destination
What should I do in your opinion...
Thx for your reply...
Andrea

post a complain
Hi
according to egyptair website , you can send an email to [email protected] or to online [email protected] and they will deal with your complain.
I did it before and solved my problem

A thread with two new members in the first three posts is not something you see every day - so a double welcome to FT to both andreai and smaeo.
Based, as I am for work reasons, in Egypt I'm not optimistic that Egypt Air's handling of any compensation claim you make will meet your expectations. Good luck anyway, and post back here to let us know how you get on.

First thing I would do is dispute the charge with the credit card company you used for paying the ticket.
That sorted I would write a letter to Egypt Air claiming the costs of the one night's accommodation. You may want to try to claim for additional compensation from them but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Am not surprised by your experience. Once took me 8 months to get a refund for a canceled flight.
