What I saw was "just" cavas. I did not ask for champagne...

It seems like melia changed the terms back to "nights" I just asked a guest relationship manager lately and they confirmed that it should be "nights". Now a few weeks later also the T&Cs are changed on the melia webside.
But they didn´t changed the "Update" Date, its still December 2021. Maybe it was just a translation issue in 2021.

So should be easyer again to get the lifetime platinum.

Good that they finally fixed it, although scary they make updates without changing the date. I thank them though for mistakes like this which convinced me to try other brands.

Amazingly I’m still Platinum despite only a couple of stays last year and I’m amazed that on my last stay in Innside New York there was literally absolutely zero benefit to having their top status. No upgrades, no late checkout (even slight), priority desk not even open. It’s like Melia follow Marriott but with even less competence and weaker benefits.

Don Pepe I have been to 3 times but the last time was maybe a year ago. They don’t have champagne in the lounge and haven’t ever in recent years I’m afraid. The cava is also very basic/low quality (think €5 a bottle stuff).

NYC Innside did you receive pre-check in 'upgrade offers' (early/late check in/out, room upgrades), which leads to those being not being available (for free) for status-guests.
Their GEM is still Isaac? Didn't waive the 'destination fee'?

Yes, got the email offering to sell those benefits. I have no idea who the GEM is because they were away for potentially several hours according to the front desk when I asked to speak with them. I confirmed my email and ask that they get in touch but they didn’t.

They did actually waive the destination fee because of the problems but it’s not a platinum benefit (I’m sure you know, just to be clear), and I did pay it on my earlier stay.

The only Grand Melia I know of that offer French Champagne in the red level are the Palacio de los Duques and the Fenix in Madrid. I thought Don Pepe had it after the last renovation. It seems to offer the same low-quality cava as the Gran Melia Melina in Barcelona, awful!

Does Melia offer status match to other programs ?

flyinglan Jul 14, 2025 6:34 am

So I accidentally booked Melia Benidorm for the wrong 2026 EuroVision dates. It's actually more expensive than the MeliaPro flexible rate.
What is the chance hotel will honor free cancellation for my non-refundable reservation? What is the best way to approach the hotel?
I am platinum.
Thanks.

Greetings from across the pond in the US! I'm looking to book the Melia Serengeti Lodge next summer and am trying to maximize my savings.

For 3 nights through their app, I am seeing $6093.90 USD or 1,149,382 points, however when I select to use my 2000 points for signing up for Melia rewards, the price becomes $5779.79 USD (difference of $314.11). This means that a 1 point would be worth ~$0.16 USD, which then means I would need to use only like ~39,000 points, far from the million shown. Am I missing something here?

The rate is not consistent, the first 2k points get the best value, the more you use the lower the discount

Well that's interesting. I have been reading the point values can be all over the place, which may make sense now. I'll continue to search here and Google, but any ideas where the break even point would be for purchasing points?

dcht Aug 18, 2025 7:51 am

As a follow up, I bought 1000 points and it's only 5 euro cheaper with that extra 1000. Makes sense now.

However they managed to .... this up and you cannot choose how many points to spend, it's all or nothing now. There was a chance until recently by booking through www1.Melia.com but they closed that one too. With the current app and web it's not possible to spend 2000.
