Yes. The app changed, and the new one sucks. See, however, https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/36912290-post507.html.

My understanding is you can only use the lounge outside of breakfast times if your (non Level) room does not include breakfast,

It is conceivable that a Platinum member would not be entitled to breakfast when Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt... at that level they have it.
I have told them many times that it is good for customer loyalty.

The article just seems like an advert for Melia. Its good that they want to expand more into luxury, but considering Melias awful loyalty scheme and how inconsistent the Gran Melia hotels are (eg Palacio de los Duques amazing, Palacio de Isora poor), it doesnt excite me much.
Perhaps more luxury properties would make Melia more appealing for acquisition. Hyatt run Palacio de los Duques would be exciting!

Stayed 7 nights at Gran Melia don Pepe's in Marbella recently. The hotel has five stars, and I do acclaim that for the service, lounge, pool area, and housekeeping that holds. The rooms are becoming slightly outdated but still clean, and the beds were outstandingly comfortable. Breakfasts both in general area and the red level lounge were marvelous. As was the red level lounge throughout the day - wines and stronger wines (like Martinis) were served all day. If you book half-board, I would avoid ERRE-restaurant, as they have very steep drink/wine prices paired by odd (!) mediocre starters, and boringly reappearing steak alternatives. And the service seems to be too much hustle busted. It is easy to find much more convenient and diverse dinner venues around. And do not forget to take the catamaran to Banus harbour to see, what the life can be at it's most ridiculed level

I guess the only thing to lose is your sanity! Id check out the full terms, as generally these things say they may be amended at any time. You arent under the terms you initially signed up for.
Completely agree about Hyatt being best for US people. Earnings opportunities are so limited for a U.K. resident like me and its a shame. But earnings with promotions from stays are much better than Melia. Hyatt have fixed redemption rates which can be great value (eg cat 1 3500 points off peak which costs 53 to buy under current promo can save you 130 on a cash rate!). Of course you cannot take advantage of these rates like the US people can, but at lease you can sometimes. In contrast, since Melia Rewards had their massive unannounced devaluation, I havent found a time when it has been worth spending points vs cash (apart from tiny amounts on part pay). So Melia Rewards for me became really only about the benefits (level/red level lounge access, upgrades etc) and it turns out Hyatt is much much better.

But they didnt changed the "Update" Date, its still December 2021. Maybe it was just a translation issue in 2021.
So should be easyer again to get the lifetime platinum.
