Currently I have no points so I can’t check but is there an upper limit on how many points can be used in cash + points redemptions? I previously used 4,000 points which gave me very good value but that was my full points balance at the time. Is there a cap, 5k , 10k points etc that they limit you to on cash+ points bookings?
cash + points gives roughly 1.2CPP vs what seems to be 0.33CPP for pure points redemptions. I will use Meliá quite alot if I can use a substantial amount of points at a good rate but if I am capped to something like 2k-4k per booking then probably not worth it for me. Thanks. |

The exchange of 2,000 points gives a discount of almost 5% of the value of the reservation in many cases, from 2,000 points onwards the standard is that every 1,000 points is equivalent to a discount of €4, a very poor value.

Ah that’s a shame then, the 3x discount vouchers for gold status are really nice, can the points be redeemed for food / room service (even if at something like 0.33CPP) ? I’m gold status through Platinum CC and would spend something around £800 for 2 stays at minimum. That will give me 12,000 points roughly and after burning 2k points for 5% off a stay I’ll have 8k-10k to dispose of.

ME BCN
Any recent experience from this hotel? Melia Gold so any goodies to be expected? Three superior city view booked for 6 people. My 60th birthday within the stay, I suppose should have that mentioned in my reservation. 20% rebate resulted in a hefty saving. :)

Afternoon - Melia points transfer to Avios (either via BA or Iberia) - what are the transfer rates for either, please?
Unfortunately Melia's website is not (or does not appear to be) transparent here Thanks in advance, LILABOS |
2000 meliarewards = 600 avios

I have 3 bookings on my account for a family trip. Does anyone know if I will get the points for the total spend or just the room I’m staying in? I’m trying to work out if I might make platinum or not…

Only for your room.
- Bookings made separately, both under my name but had informed reception in advance the names of guests of for the second booking. - second booking started a day after first booking but both ended the same day No idea which if any was the deciding factor |

I suppose what worked was the first factor, although the reality is that they should not let you make 2 reservations in your name, as this has been communicated to me on occasion.
https://www.melia.com/es/meliarewards/terms-conditions "In the case of Points obtained for Stays in hotels, Points will only be accumulated for a maximum of two (2) rooms (regardless of whether the reservation corresponds to a higher number), as long as the guest staying in the second room is not the Owner of the Program. If the guest staying in the second room is also a Program Holder and informs the hotel at the time of check-in or during his/her stay, as long as he/she has not paid the bill, the points generated by the amount of the reservation will be distributed equally between the two Accounts. In the event that the guest staying in the second room is not a member of the Program or has not identified himself as such at the time of check-in or during his stay, the Points will be accumulated exclusively in the account of the Reservation Holder, without possibility of rectification." Interesting...so you can't get points for a 2nd room if you are also staying in the 2nd room, so in my case since I did have real other-guests staying in the 2nd room, that's fine, and I got the points for the 2nd room as per the T&C. Who books 2 rooms for themselves (only) anyway? Anti mattress-run language? Since OP will not be able to get points for the 3rd room, better make an account for the guests of the 3rd room then? |
So to make matters even more confusing, we arrive on day 1 (both members) and the other 2 rooms arrive on day 2, we all depart on the same day (total of bookings is around €15,000). The terms and conditions in English don’t seem to mention a number of rooms, but mention effective stays by the Member
Effective stay means that the stay that was booked was actually carried out and paid for (hereinafter, the “Stay”). Guess we might just have to wait and see….. |

Effective stay means that the stay that was booked was actually carried out and paid for (hereinafter, the “Stay”). Guess we might just have to wait and see….. https://www.melia.com/en/meliarewards/terms-conditions So you have 1 booking for 1 room for x nights and a 2nd booking for 2 rooms for x-1 nights? Hmm, it's possible if you are lucky you get all the points for all 3 rooms, R1 is a given. R2 is highly likely assuming Member 2 does not ID themselves as a member or ID themselves as the main guest of R2. R3 is the unknown, perhaps the separate bookingness of 1 | 2&3 means you get all 3, also assuming R3's main guest did not ID themselves as a member. I think it would be too costly to risk R3's points to be lost by trying to have them given to Member 1 by having no other member assigned to R3, though? |
So room 1 cost is €6,500, room 2 €4,900 and room 3 €3,800. So room 3 would be the difference between gold and platinum so I’ll need to weigh up the status vs points risk….
