Well, my point for asking AC and WS is to have them actually fly TPE-YYC/YYZ/YVR or CTA for more flights for the Taiwanese carriers.

I thought I read in recent scenario there are 7-14 daily flights up for grabs, and the assumption was JX will get 7 for YVR

Yeah, but I followed up in that thread and what he said was incorrect.

Missed the follow-up, that's too bad, YYZ could really use CI or JX

WS doesn't have the aircraft to serve TPE from either YYC or YVR. Its Dreamliner fleet is stretched paper thin as it is and there's a long wait for the new frames it has ordered.

AC used to serve YVR-TPE but that was pre-pandemic. It's fascinating that given its recent expansion in Asia, (BKK, SIN, MNL, even CTS) it has shown no interest in resuming TPE.

Once AC get more 787-10, maybe they will return to TPE. I suggested before that AC and BR should look at closer cooperation since BR cannot add anymore flights. Pretty sure YVR-TPE and YYZ-TPE can both support 1 more daily. I think the issue is AC is not that interested in leveraging BR and TPE as transit point for its own customers.

I am not surprised cause TPE has been low yield historically and has BR and CI as competent competitors (unlike PR). TPE was a very lackluster destination for AC pre-pandemic.

Now with UA having 2 SFO-TPE and DL having 1 SEA-TPE plus JX adding all those flights post-pandemic, I don't think TPE-YVR and TPE-YVR-USA will be very profitable in comparison to other destinations you listed where they have minimal direct competition.

I don't think AC is very interested, but their office is still there in Taiwan. YYZ can definitely take another flight, I am not so sure about YVR, though. Prior to pandemic YVR was struggling with premium passengers. CI was utilizing 744 for a while and made the old First Class seats as Business. It eventually turned into a 359 route when 744 was retired. BR used 77W throughout all this time, but was not a condensed 77B seating till post-pandemic. I would think if a competitor comes in to this route, yields would struggle (BR likely revert back to a light 77W or even 789 and CI would turn it into 359 or even a 789).

AC already partners with CX, which covers the same markets as BR. If AC is willing to fly flights like YVR-MNL/CTS, YYZ-KIX, YUL-ICN, then it means the lack of interest in TPE isn't due to aircraft constraint. I can't think of another airport that is home to 3 full service long haul airlines (maybe LAX), so perhaps AC is just not interested in competing there.

Under Starlux mileage program, Taipei-Europe will have the same redemption rate as Taipei-North America.

Prague will be on sale today/tomorrow.

Hope they do ok, not much Asian service at that Airport. I normally fly via Finland, but seems Japan (Nagoya/Kansai/NRT/HND)/Finland flights become full and expensive to maybe this is good alterative.

Are we expecting Starlux to sign codeshare agreements for onward connections from Prague?
I know the direct flights have only just gone on sale, but currently the only european Starlux destinations are Etihad connections.
