regardless of which browser you use, try http://southbaypc.com/noads
The program is free and fantastic. I have used it for several years now, no pop-ups at all :) (that and ....... plus makes MapleLeaf a happy camper) |
i haven't forgotten, just haven't got the answer yet. Still working on it.

I agree with the suggestion of only having a single pop-under, instead of one with each browser window. I'll see if that's an option. I too like opening multiple windows when using the site.

What pop ups?
For a miniscule $12 a year I never seen them, and don't have to use that horrible clunky Firefox either. ;) |
What Pop-Ups?
I'm long rid of the virus-attracting IE product and enjoy the smooth Firefox experience with add-ons that Gates has tried his best to copy - as is his wont.
|
Thanks John (Internet Brands) for helping with the answer and thoughts on this question.

horrible & clunky are words I would associate more with IE than FireFox. FWIW, I have FireFox installed on a USB drive and I can run it from most Airline Lounge PCs that I have come across. (This includes the usefulness of .......+ and having all my bookmarks/shortcuts/toolbars readily available) |
i often log onto the site using my iphone when im on the road or at an airport and the popups cause a number of my problems. sometimes it crashes the browser, other times just slows everything to a crawl. very distracting in the least!

Pop-ups and Banners
Did the obligatory search and found nothing new.
Randy, I am getting more pop-ups and banners the past several days. One was just rejected by Webroot Spy Sweeper. I am sorry, I didn't write down the link or address that triggered this response. |
appreciate the input. I've asked JohnMcG of Internet Brands to look in to the changes for these types of things and assist in an answer.

Mikey,
I'm not getting the same experience. We're trying not to have excessive pop-ups. Are you getting them in a single session, or when you close and re-open your browser? Thanks. -- John |
John,
If you haven't seen these threads already, they might be of assistance in understanding the ad-situation as experienced by many FTers: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=742248 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=742246 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=742671 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=742284 |
What Pop-Ups?
....as many have asked before on various threads.
Those of us who use the ad block feature on Firefox have never seen any of them! |

Adding to the recent issues; it seems that something with the FT ad system has recently changed and it now takes a while for each page to load, whereas it used to load right away. I see larger ads now. Sometimes a vertical ad appears at the top of the page where a horizontal ad should go and I need to scroll way down to get to the content.
I understand Internet Brands needs to make money, but at what point does cluttering the pages and slowing down the site drive users away and therefore advertisers away? |
