I saw his comments; but I respectfully disagree.

Who decides what are "hundreds of useful, topical posts" - as opposed to count- padding posts?

Why not grandfather-in those long-term members who are obviously not post-padders, but are interested FTers!

For the life of me, I still cannot come up with a rational for the exclusion.

Which is your right. I have disagreed with him myself, on occasion.

At least the admins, who can delete such posts. Not sure if the moderators have that power or not.

It might be a limitation of the webboard software itself.

I do not know if one can manually grant access to individual accounts, but if one can, then I agree some type of grandfathering should be made available.

Perhaps you are right about software limitations allowing decisions based on post count; but not Member Since Date. That would be a "reason" for lack of "rational". Perhaps there might be a "workaround".

Randy has posted that it is 90 days and 90 posts.

Randy has committed to looking at requests on a case by case basis.

And you can review some of Randy's thought process about Coupon Connection access here.

It's useful to review some recent history. Randy initially had the same limites for Omni, SPAM, and Coupon Connection: 180 days and 180 posts. I've always found Randy to listen to reason; people came to him with reasons why Coupon Connection should have faster access and why SPAM shouldn't have any entry requirement. Thus, today entry requirements are:

Omni:
180 days and 180 posts

Coupon Connection:
90 days and 90 posts

SPAM:
Immediate

Further, as I noted above, Randy is open to review of access to Coupon Connection for those who make a good case to him.

Hurray... only took me three years to get here. What do I do to unlock the mysteries of this forum?

kappa meets both requirements, but evidently still does not have access to Coupon Connection, so I wonder what's up. Could be an account glitch, I guess...

Where did kappa say he/she does not have Coupon Connection access?

For the record, I never said or implied that I did not have CC access. I simply posted that (in my opinion) the relastively high threshold of posts for long time posters lacked a rational.

Wow, I guess I better start posting and not just lurking. Does this one count? vbg

I understand the tiered membership level idea but how do members go about knowing that the coupon connection exists? I stumbled onto it when it was open access. Does one now get an e-mail once they reach the required level informinng them of the forum? How many tiered membership programs have benefits (coupon connection) that the benefits are only revealed to them after they reach the required level? Just some food for thought.

really...

Time to start posting here too... I think there's a fine line being missed by the admins of "clutter" and genuine "useful" postings. I don't want tons of ridiculous postngs here just so people and hit a quota... sounds a lot like communism, comrade....

I don't want anything, but want to give somone an Eggo AA coupon

Under this new policy, that means I can't do that, right? I'm just making sure I'm not missing something.

Thanks!

oh, sorry, didn't say, "I used to be able to see the Coupon Connection, but I can't anymore". Thanks.

Micksgirl,

You are free to give that coupon to anyone you want... you just cannot post and give it away in the Coupon Connection forum until you get your 90 posts.

You are not far away!

William

Of the 15 members who have contacted me recently to try and get an exception into CC - 11 of them had post averages in the CC forum of greater than 87 percent of the time. I'm sorry, i can't see 87 percent of your time on FT in CC as something that's really going to make me a better traveler. I want your experiences, i want your opinions i want you to assist making FlyerTalk valuable to the next person who visits this Web site.

I very much appreciated all the input. I would like to ask bobovespa a question: you don't have any problem with any passenger at all getting in front of you in line to board an oversold flight correct? The reason i ask that is i see you are EXP which is something to be very proud of. I'd like your thoughts if AA gave every passenger the very same benefits you enjoy. Or when checking in at the next Sheraton if the "upgrade" was not available since the hotel gave the best room away an hour ago to the next person who just happened to be checking in. The point being is that in the case of EXP, you just didn't get if by not flying much. At Starwood by not staying a lot of times at their properties. There is a reward at FT for being a blabbermouth, similar to the rewards you get from American Airlines and Starwood for traveling a lot. Neither of us are denying you anything, but all of us require something in return. I think it easier to talk about your life as a frequent traveler than flying 100,000 miles with American. I'll look at your request bobovespa, but i'm hoping you aren't in that category that has spent 87% of your time on FT in CC.
There is at least one current poster on CC with access who does nothing but trade on CC (more than 100 posts) and AFAIK has no posts elsewhere of any value. How about proactively stripping away the CC rights of individuals who fit this profile?

Have you told a CC mod your concerns?
