After all, his personal ID line for weeks says his green squares "make him feel loved". (If that is not fodder for a Doctor Phil episode right there, I don't know what is!)

ScottC thinks Monday is going to be "Fun".

But like those watching a car accident - it is not nearly so much "fun" if you are the one in there cleaning up the mess. IMHO.
Allright everybody, Enough arguing. The decision has been made. Let's all just enjoy the ride, however turbulent it may be. Less dings, more bongs!

It would be interesting to put the reputation feature to a vote throughout the general membership of FT. My guess is the results would be somewhere along these lines:

Yay:10%
Nay:10%
No Opinion/Could Care Less: 80%

I personally like the reputation feature and find the whole process very interesting. But, this forum aside, on the other forums I haunt there is little or no discussion of this new feature. It's pretty much miles and points as usual.

True that there is little discussion, but the ding-dong/ping-pong/bing-bling/gong-bongs are coming from all of the forums.

Remember that in the OTHER Airline/Hotel Forums discussing this is clearly off topic.

Even the erstwhile OMNI mods for example have been commendably vigilant in locking down any threads even in that laissez-faire Forum that even mention this matter, even in a light hearted manner. As other threads on this page amply attest.

This is Randy Petersen's Forum. He calls the shots. This is where such matters are most properly discussed. IMHO. I do not think he'd approve if there were threads in UA, AA, DL and CO etc on this.

I do not profess to speak for Randy, but I suspect he'd be DELIGHTED if those Forums are in fact discussing only miles and points.

Dovster. Never dinged, pinged, donged or gonged anyone behind their back. Signed or unsigned.

What I want to say I am brave (or stupid!) enough to say on threads.

Monday holds no fears for ME at least.

Dang, Glen....what a waste. You're worth at least 25 Bling points. But then again, you're also worth the same amount of Ding points.
Perhaps better to let sleeping dogs lie....

Do you really think so? (Well, I suppose you must, or you wouldn't have said so.)

My opinion is a bit different - I think it will be a helpful thing, because it will reveal some of those who are not to be trusted. And that can only strengthen the Community as a whole.

We've had the cowards who create second (and third, and even fourth!) false identities on the Board so they can hide behind them.

And now, we have the same types who thought they could get away with anonymous snipes, or even with signing other folks names to their trolls in order to sow confusion and mistrust within the Community. Leaving aside the folks who at first didn't realize that, unlike e-Bay, the "dings" and "blings" would be anonymous if not signed, stripping the anonymity off those who continued to act in this fashion is like turning over a rock and watching things scuttle.

Actually, hiding behind the anonymity is like hiding under a sheet (and is based on the same principle -- or lack thereof), and Monday we will know just exactly who has been hiding under that sheet to spew their filth.

In the American South, the communities as a whole were strengthened, and freedom was furthered, when the sheets were stripped off. I would think the same would be true here. I think the Community will be much better for the knowledge - sunlight kills germs.

(BTW, I got an anonymous "ding" for a post earlier in this thread saying that people who hide their identities to take down others' reputations are cowards. Needless to say, the coward did not sign his/her name, but what can one expect of that ilk? Just one last salvo before the sheet comes off, I guess.)

OK, I have no real idea what is going on here or what the little green square (or circle for that matter) really means. That said, I changed my square to "Black" to match my wardrobe. If there is a way to get a pink square, let me know

PS Could someone tell me what the "Scales of Justice" icon means? I keep seeing it and am curious, although not curious enough to do a search ...

PSS Randy, if you're reading this, thanks for making the new FT easier to use.

PSSS All this talk about Dings & Dongs is making me hungry for a "Ding Dong"

Crikey, now I have a red dot. Is this because I was wearing a red bikini this afternoon? Am I being watched ? I really was kidding about matching the wardrobe!

For others, it's a chance to bestow a bling or ding (positive or negative reputation points), provided you've not given it to more than three people in the past 24 hours.

For yourself, it will tell you your own reputation "score."

Well, I'll be darned. What if we had that for politicians?

Am I missing anything by not having the "Road Hazard" icon? Or is that just for you bad boys?

Well, I now have a "disabled reputation" so if you shun me in public, I'll understand. (I feel like Belle Watling in "Gone With The Wind")
