Thumper, ever hear of Chicken Little?

You had a similar post on Jan 25 where the mods asked you just to email them and they would handle it. Six days later, you do the same thing.

Just a note of correction:

It is not Chicken Little who has now posted the thread "WOW!! 6 Inch Nipples" which is appearing on Omni. I am someone who is going to fight every way possible to not surrender OMNI. You have simply crystalized for me that the best way to get this issue addressed once and for all is to post here. At best you have provided 2 bumps for me - one in your response, and one in mine. You are now invited to bump the topic again.

Also, I am not very clear on your Chicken Little alliteration. There was no false call to action upon my behalf. If you mean that I made the same mistake twice, perhaps you should search your literary past and find a better analogy. And one that doesn't personally attack a fellow poster.

Without taking sides and with no offense to anyone, I just wanted to point out that "Chicken Little" is not an alliteration...

Examples of an alliteration:

"Choking chicken"
"Frequent Flyer"
"Persistent Punki"
"Teacup Tornado"

Coincidentally, here is an example of alliteration from an earlier post in this very thread:

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by Punki:

I wonder if perhaps Punki possibly pondered the persistent plethora of palpable P words that peppered her post pertaining to her personal preference of publicly posting polite private input...

I have no bone to pick with you personally, but as the recipient of some of your most sarcastically insulting emails about my moderation, one of them even implying that I was too lazy/uninterested to read the thread in question, I take compete exception to this remark. </font>

Well squeakr as someone who has recently posted negatively about MY emails and yet has NEVER received one from me AFAIK I find this a bit rich. To put it mildly.

Your moderation is weak and ineffective and inconsistent - and has always been so IMO. Don't like me expressing my negative opinion on you? - well that goes ditto I am here to tell you.

You clearly need to seek the support of others for attempting to undertake the most basic parts of the moderation task and lambast me unfairly whilst doing so, behind my back, and even started a not-so-secret (now) thread on your own shortcomings.

This was all over the most innocuous reference to a pertinent thread link in a post. Not another Flyertalker posted about it, and life went on. There had been no cause for you or ANY other United Moderator to contact me for months - and you know it.

If you or Chuck had the slightest issue with it all you needed to do was bring it to my attention, and it would have been amended (as it was immediately I was made aware of it) - not slander me behind my back.

GOOD and effective moderation in all but the most heated of threads involves YOU the moderator having the sense and manners and style to email the person posting and suggesting they might re-consider their post. If that fails, go on to plan "B".

If you are unable or unwilling to do so, perhaps it is time to toss in the towel and leave the job to those who are willing and able to do so?

Actually, squeakr, I am extremely disappointed in your highly inappropriate public responses to my very appropriate private e-mails regarding your moderation efforts. I have, therefore, decided that if I have not heard anything privately from you or Randy within 24 hours of my original post, that would cause me to change my mind, that I will post my private e-mails to you, along with your public responses thereto, and let the community decide, which I honestly feel is the better and more honest method of dealing with controversy.

I obviously have no right to post or comment upon your private responses without your permission, so I will not do so, although it is obvious that this is a concept of common courtesy which was apparently not covered in FT Moderator training.

Actually, the case law is clear that unless the author of a document (which would include an e-mail) has expressly claimed a copyright as to that particular document itself, the letter or e-mail belongs to the recipient.

So it may be freely re-distributed. Many books of letters received are published exactly on this basis.

Now if this is a violation of some other contractual relationship, such as Terms of Service, is another matter.

Also without taking sides, and with no offense to anyone, may I suggest that Thumper may have intended to say "allusion"?

Thank you, SPN Lifer, for your response and legal opinion. For me, however, it is a question of personal ethics. I simply will not publicly post, or reveal the contents of, another person's private e-mails without his/her specific permission.

Believe me, I have in the past been sorely tempted so to do, however, have heretofore been able to resist those urges.

Thank you counsellor. (Now I'll NEVER tell
which ivy league school I went to.)

But, isn't the highjacked theme/plot of this thread much more interesting.....

What may be legal is not necessarily tantamount to courtesy, civility, or even good manners.

Let alone morality, as the slaughter of millions of innocents bears witness.

No offense, but I think that two of these are alliterations only in print; "Persistent Punki" and "Teacup Tornado" aren't oral alliterations because the accented syllables in each word-pair begin with different sounds: in the first, the accents are on S and P, and in the second, they are on T and N.

They were only in print, so no offense taken. Also, you are free to believe whatever you want to believe.
