ftomnibox account was removed on Monday (just as I predicted on the second post on this thread. Thanks Randy!).

Dovster's post was removed (and he was warned) because his entire post was about another poster and not about the topic. I perceived it as a personal attack. Was it the worst personal attack in the history of FT? Of couse not. Did I remove it and ask (warn) the sender? Yes. Was it prompted by the ftomnibox troll? No. Have I wanred or had any interaction with Dovser's post since? No.

As far as his other allegations, threads were closed, most posters were warned.

In some cases there are "bad" posts still out there. They are there becuase the moderators didn't see it and posters didn't report it. OMNI moderators do not have the time or inclination to read and judge every post. Like cops in a big city, if we see something we act, but we largely rely on the public to report indcidents. We also largely rely on FTers following the TOS that they agreed to when registering.

Thanks for the explanations, BTW how did that poster keep the number locked on 5?

I am certain that there are some posts which the moderators did not see. Those are not, however, the flames which I quoted.

I know that at least one moderator saw the first three flames that I cited because he closed the thread -- while leaving the flames up.

I know that all the moderators saw the fourth flame that I quoted (in which a poster was compared to a kindergarten child) because I wrote to them about it and received an answer saying it would be looked into.

I know that at least one moderator saw the flame about me posting dishonestly, because it was in the same thread as my post which was deleted.

All of these flames are still there.

My post, which flamed no one, has been deleted.

A little more explanation, the thread I closed mentioning "ragheads" was not edited simply because I closed it, when we edit a post we do so to allow the thread to stay alive, usully because it is an interesting topic and the majority of the posts are on-topic. If we were to close every thread containing a flame then we'd soon have no interesting topics to discuss.

I also beleive that closing a thread and issuing a warning to the topic starter can serve as a warning to others on what isn't permitted.

No sure what you mean, can you elaborate?

Dovster Jan 21, 2004 6:47 am

Underpressure, I can explain that. Your post count remains the same when you post on the same thread.

No matter how many times I post on this thread it will remain post number "1003".

Sure, on every ftomnibox comment, the total post counter is 5, as it has been since January. How did he/she do that?

They registered on Sunday Jan 18th. They made 5 posts, and their account was suspended Monday morning (Jan 20th).

Everytime you post on a thread, your post count gets updated for all of your posts on the thread.

Why not also suspend the member who was using multiple handles?

dovster summed it up well (as did se94583 and parnel here). There is no way to moderate OMNI in an impartial and objective manner. The vocal minority of liberal and gay posters have free reign to flame and bait other posters.

We are not sure who it was.

Couldn't be traced by the IP.
