AP2110,
Flames are far from unusual on the Omni Board.
For example, on Jan 26, Guava wrote the following about Underpressure:
And Doppy, have you learnt nothing? What happens everytime he lands his paw on a thread you started? Ignore him and save yourself some headaches and so for the other readers, myself included. And if you still believe an intelligent/logical discussion is possible, you have to know that person has some more serious problems inside that shouldn't be adressed here on Flyertalk.
Somebody a bit more suspicious than I am might believe that this flame was allowed to stand because Guava, from the left, is attacking Underpressure who stands on the right.
Being a fair-minded individual, however, I have to admit that saying "that person has more serious problems inside" is very mild compared to my wondering why debo_nair only used the word "rat" to describe the ambassador and not the murderer.

I saw that and just wrote it off, Doppy and I do not have a problem. He is as far left as I am far right. I think we both gain some empathy because of our interaction here.
I tend to ignore the one shot wonders with SA remarks.

Underpressure, I agree with you. As far as Doppy is concerned, I have no problem with him either.
In fact, I have no problem with the great majority of posters -- right or left -- on Omni.
It is, however, a shame that some feel the need to come in and make remarks like that one.

As we've all seen, Guava can be a little emotional at times but he mostly means well, except when he starts his writing campaign to Randy

I'm not even going to read these four pages of posts. I just know that Dovster is one of the most polite and well-versed contributers of Flyertalk. His generosity to FTers like Mary2e boggle the brain. For those of you with an axe to grind against him, do a little research and see what this kind gentleman did for her on Christmas Day. It's early February and I'm still moved.

. I try to stay out of these threads but sometimes I just can't resist tossing in my two cents worth when decent contributors (at least based on what they have posted IMO) are being bullied - at least that's the way it reads to me, YMMV... With that said I'm off to get a life

I am amazed that this thread that was started by an impersonator for the simple purpose of flaming another member is now 5 pages long.
Randy, all that I can say is please shut it down.

Firstly, I want to announce my pride in being the subject of the only thread started by the hoaxter which was allowed to remain up. Take THAT, Oz and Punki!
Now, to be even more perverse, I am going to disagree with Analise (who defended me) and agree with ChaseTheMiles (who despises me).
Analise, I just happen to live in a land which has a lot of meaning to people of all religions. What I did at Christmas time would have been the subject of a polite "thank you" and nothing more if I had done something similar in Detroit or Philadelphia.
ChaseTheMiles is 100% correct in saying I (figuratively) attacked her. In fact, I said so in this very thread long before she came on here.
I did so once, offer absolutely no apologies for it, feel that I was correct in doing so and would do so again if the same circumstances arose. They have not arisen since and thus I have not repeated.
For all this, she claimed (see above in this thread) that I "cyber stalked" her by doing an Omni search on her past postings vis-a-vis Israel.
Yes, I did the search -- and said so when I did it. Does this amount to cyber stalking? Only in her rather active imagination.
Having very little interest in stalking CTM (or doing anything else with her for that matter) I have basically put her out of my mind -- except when she comes on ORP to complain about me.
But my feelings about CTM (and obviously her feelings about me) are based on things we posted under our own names. They are not the result of falling for tricks by anonymous hoaxters out to cause hard feelings in the FT community.
I am not the real target of ftomnibox. OzStamps, Punki, the mods, etc are not the real target of TalkTeam.
The real target is FT in general and if you let anything they (actually, in my opinion, "he" -- a single hoaxter) posted influence you against any other FT member you will be giving him exactly what he wants.

Dovster, you were wrong to attack me, and you are still wrong to continue. But, as I said in an earlier post, despite your argumentative posts, vicious attacks based on baseless claims, and suspiciously stalker-like behavior, I suggested that you get a life and make peace. I would have left it at that. As the moderators and TOS have recommended, I've always considered it a higher form to ignore posts that are deliberately provoking. My personal belief is that it takes a greater person to be able to walk away. However, if you ever continue your personal attacks on me, I will not hesitate to defend myself.

Precisely, Dovster.
The one thing that you, I, Oz and Gaucho seem to have in common is that we stick by our guns, no matter how much mud folks decide to throw our way.
Additionally, we all have the ability to laugh at ourselves.
Now what type of person would find those qualities offensive?
Interesting.
The difference with your thread is that it has no embarrassing moderator posts. I suspect that that is why it still stands.
