In a court of law after the attorneys for both sides have made their arguments, the case is either handed over to the judge or the jury. In this case both the judge and jury are Randy. You can beat this issue to death, or step back and wait for Randy to give his decision. Nothing can be accomplished by this continued back and forth bickering except alienate people. |

I know of fellow FT'rs who were "un-subscribed" from special offers posted in the Starwood forum because Starwood Lurker tracked them down by their e-mail and removed them from the promotion. It is that behavious which has made me stay away from their properties - plus 4 really bad experiences in a row at their properties. If you would did or could or care to spend some time on the Starwood forum you would find out quite easily that by all appearances the Lurker cannot register or unregister individuals for promos as he so fancies. But dont let truth get in the way of your goals. However to accuse him ( or any of a number lurkers on these boards) of doing what you said what he has been is a new low ( but not surprising after a cursary glance at the AC forum) If i were accused thusly I wouldnt hesitate to tell FTalk to piss-off. However unless I am presented with much more evidence than your heresay I dont buy it, if you have any at all which I highly doubt, since I am pretty certain you dont work for Starwood. Just stick to the topic at hand and save us the smear campaign. mike [This message has been edited by MIKESILV (edited Dec 04, 2003).] |
He never does.
He constantly accuses a member in the Air Canada board of being an AC employee but provides no proof what so ever. He just keeps repeating it and repeating it and oh yeah, repeating it. I guess it must be true then http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif Many many people on that board know the person in question and know they do not work for AC but Maple Leaf lives in a dream world and won't accept it because it doesn't conform to what he wants to believe. I am sad to see that educated well thought out people here would take such a negative comment at face value without a shred of evidence. Give me a break. Maple Leaf fights anyone and everyone that have a positive attitude towards AC every chance he gets in the AC forum and seems to have taken a disliking to Starwood Lurker, another person who has a history of helping people. Maple Leaf, as one Christian to another Judge not, lest ye be judged. Matthew 7:1 I make plenty of mistakes in my life every day and don't want ongoing problems with you but you can't just make statements and not back them up. It is just wrong. Either give proof to you statement about Starwood Lurker or remove it. That is a very serious allegation and if you can't back it up with proof then remove it and apologize to Starwood Lurker immediately. |
Credibility of the witness challenged... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I was not the one who started talking about this like a court case (actually, Starwood Lurker did...), but people seem to be getting similarly emotional http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. This is all getting a little bit too heated for me. I am on neither "side", just curious how this is going to turn out so I respectfully bow out of this thread (as a participant, will still lurk for Randy's response http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif). |
my response disappeared... will reply later when I have the time again.

One last statement, and this is it.
When Randy has had time to consider what his response to all this is and he posts that response, I will be more than happy to discuss any questions you may have, but not before that time. Sincerely, William R. Sanders Customer Service Coordinator Starwood Preferred Services [email protected] |

It is getting more interesting by the minute (which is why I broke my promise and made it back to this thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif).
Now, not only a link to a promo disappeared, but a whole thread in the Starwood forum that was not flattering for Starwood disappeared. I don't know why - and perhaps it is just a technical error that that thread disappeared, but it sure seems "strange". Edit: Starwood Lurker just posted that he had nothing to do with it: Originally posted by Starwood Lurker: Honestly, I have no idea. FYI, I haven't chimed in on this because I haven't had the quality time to think it through. While I've posted other places - per JeremyZ - they have been no thought evolking posts. What I've learned is that I'm not allowed to think out loud - so if it is a matter that probably does and should be seriously addressed, think it through before commenting. I'm almost there on this issue. Thanks for being patient.

I just wanted to say that in my limited time in this community, FT has never been about restricting information.
I think it's a shame that people were asked by admins to modify their posts, even if this was a "targeted" offer. If starwood really wanted a targeted offer, they should provide the computer backend to make it targeted (ala what happens in the Southwest Airlines forum) or risk that word of the offer could get out. |
gleff, you quoted me correctly. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
While I do not condone the outright sale of miles and/or points, I have been happily involved in many exchanges, ranging all the way from "Hey, just take it and enjoy!" (what goes around always comes around), to, "There really is no point in your trying to book a round-about UA award ticket to Mexico. I'll just book a direct ticket for you on AS and somewhere along the way you can book me a ticket on UA." Win/win. I have even received certificates in the mail with notes that said, "I enjoyed your post about .............. very much. Hope you enjoy this upgrade as much." Ah ha!!! Trading joy for joy. Are there rules against that? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif These exchanges are almost always privately conducted with FT folks whom I consider friends--and I have lots and lots of FlyerTalk friends. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Thank you very much. I have always been very honest with UA and AS about my exchanges with friends and they think it is cool that I would, for example, give an internationally traveling friend a SWU that I wasn't going to use in exchange for my friend upgrading me with a HK 50 that she wasn't going to use. Even Starwood and Hilton could care less to whom I give award stays. They get XX,XXX number of points for a room, no matter who sleeps in the room. What's the issue??? FlyerTalk would be a far less friendly and rewarding place if were not allowed to make happy, mutually beneficial exchanges with our friends, both new and old. |
