The Peace Process on FlyerTalk
 

Randy, would it be possible for you to explain what peace process on flyertalk you're referring to here? If both sides in a dispute are coming to the table with some sort of compromise, that's certainly a valid peace process that I think everyone can get behind.

But, if by peace process, you mean that one party is just going to resume apace actions that, in the past, have repeatedly proven to be divisive and disruptive to flyertalk, and the other parties are to keep their mouths shut about it, then I'm not sure that has a lot of chance for success.

I'm trying to make sure that all of my characterizations are honest reflections of historical outcomes, and not personal attacks. I just think the forums have a greater chance at stability if an actual "peace process" were in place in which something meaningful were changed to satisfy both parties.

Proven to be disruptive how? Because his threads don't interest you? It is fine for people to come up with a slew of the silliest topics they can think of but someone posting links to news stories is disruptive. What gives you the right to criticize the content someone else posts in OMNI?

This sounds so much like a kid telling someone else to get out of their playground or the bullies will do their best to try and force you out. And more and more I am seeing this sort of activity by members here.

Robb could VERY easily have been talking about someone other than the FT'er you are thinking about.

I can think of one in particular that fit's the description.

I guess it comes down to which you prefer: a slew of silly OMNI topics that many people actually respond to...or a slew of links to news stories that few people respond to.

Also, I didn't criticize the content of anyone's postings. All I said was that if someone constantly is at the center of controversy, leaving disrupution and chaos in their wake where others do not, then they need to accept their share of the "peace process," and not just expect everyone else to do all the changing.

My mother taught me about my behavior as a child that it's almost never everyone else who's wrong.

I read this thread and all threads that were mentioned in this and the other thread, and as a relative newbie, I have to admit, I am completely lost. Could anyone enlighten me on the "history of Flyertalk"? Are there any good threads to revisit some "fights" from the past? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

As a relatively newcomer to these boards, to me there is no difference between a slew of posts about "the COE", someone making "either/or" posts, or someone posting news links. As an objective bystander with no axe to grind, it appears a little disingenuous to talk about any one poster being "divisive" when it seems to be the "regulars" of this site doing the bickering - no doubt I've offended someone with this post, then again, there are no cliques here, right?
