The result of his timeout and his lack of posts in recent days has resulted in a better, more civil, more informative UA forum, one that is not wrapped around the axle of troll posts intended to paralyze discussion by the proclamation of bizarre opinions and false statements. Of course, Delta Airlines FlyerTalkers, who've recently been branded by the boy as a bunch of "riff raff" that need to be gotten rid of, might think differently about the benefits of his presence there. Personally, I think it would be best for all concerned if he confined all his worshipful paeans to Gordo in the Continental forum and his disruptive troll posts to the Aeroflot forum. Fewer people are bound to be agitated as a result. ------------------ -Otto [edited for spelling] [This message has been edited by OttoGraham (edited 06-15-2003).] |

I doubted such a claim, and asked him to verify it with something other than his word, which is not exactly accepted as gospel by most FlyerTalkers. Otto,
Why should avek00, or ANYONE for that matter be confined to or banned from any forum? If a member does not violate the TOS, then they are free to post. PERIOD. You chastize other members for the same behaivour that you exhibit yourself. That just undermines your credibility. You also refer to avek00 as "boy" and your "acknowldegement" that he was "partially" correct on the Bethune matter was to state that a broken clock was correct twice a day. That is trolling. |
Personally, I think referring to someone as a "boy" is incredibly insensitive and offensive, and I believe merits intervention by Randy. Perhaps the wrong person took a time-out.

Both of which accurately describe the person in question. ------------------ -Otto |

For example, most of us on this board generally restrain ourselves from saying what we really think about certain other posters, both as a function of good manners as well as to make FlyerTalk an informative place to visit on the web. Just as saying other posters need rehab at the Betty Ford Clinic, posting poems about killing JetBlue or destroying United hardly qualifies as either a polite or informative contribution, I think, and underscores the appropriateness of my use of the word "boy." http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum21/HTML/010738.html ------------------ -Otto |
Like moths to a candle flame.
As I read the new posts this is all that come to mind and I can not tell you whom are the moths and who is the candle. Back to the topic I think dhmammer53 has it somewhat correct in his post <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">The one thing many of us know is that lots of flyertalkers aren't as tolerant as they appear to be. That's a shame because many of Doc's postings are worthwhile. If they aren't complanining about him, they'll complain about someone else.</font> Now if we have half million registered posters or some such unfathomable number it would seem to me that we are going to have more than one difference of opinion. The real big problem here as I see it is that opinions get real tricky in situations where we have a post (eg; Welcome Back.) I have offered greetings before in these threads but have come to wonder why. I mean it isn't like the person physically was gone. It is possible almost anywhere in the world to log on and post so why not. If someone was hospitalized and I knew them more than words on the screen (I really met them in other words) than I would post some get well message and most likely would send a message/card personally to where they were. Do some posters actually think their personal obligation is complete by posting in a thread? It seems so to me. It is like the whole world or like 'moths to a candle' for them. So until someone debunks my previous post I will reiterate the debateable part here again. <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Is there truely a line that can be drawn? Well I believe it is not easy enough in the examples drawn above. 1)Don't say anything bad about someone else (but does this include constructive criticism also) and 2)Don't be all inclusive in you comments of some one (eg: Everybody thinks your a ____________.)</font> |
As many of us (regulars and ir-regulars) are reading, I think it's safe to assume that some of the problem posters (IMHO) have nothing to do but waste their time posting here.
Take it outside boys (or at least to private e mails). |

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by OttoGraham: I suggested avek00 confine himself to posting pro-Gordon Bethune stuff on the Continental board.</font> Nonetheless, none of this is good enough for you. Avek00 is a longtime member of the community who nobody really had a problem with anyone until your group of vigilantes decided to declare open season on him. Whether this was motivated by your dislike of minorities who can actually think for themselves, your unwillingness to accept opinions that don't toe your misguided party line or simply an old fashioned ego we will never know. So how about this suggestion Otto. If you have a problem with those of avek00's posts that are completely within the realm of the FT TOS (as 99% of them are), how about that YOU go find another thread or forum or evrn another website to post on. Somehow I doubt your oh-so-insightful contributions will be missed much. Despite his youth, avek00 is far more of a MAN than you will ever be. At least he makes an effort to try and bring peace to the table whereas you simply continue to make attack upon attack. I find that highly hypocritical and distasteful. The nice thing about the internet is that words stand on their own for all to judge.
Folks can judge Otto's words -- agree or disagree -- without your attacking them. And without bringing race into it (personally I don't know anything about avek00's background.) And without calling folks names yourself: <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by B747-437B: while consider you one of the most distasteful things that the internet has ever thrown up.</font> Do any of us here really need to be spending our time hatefully? Remember, the topic is miles and points. Don't Feed the Trolls. |
And some things NEVER change.
I think the irony is lost on no one that all of the usual suspects have shown up here. While all of the windmill fighting might be amusing to some, many folks on FT are growing mighty sick of it. |
