Please stop the threads mocking a 20s meeting

Look it was an idea that evolved out of the continental thread about so many young flyertalker. There are many general meetings open to everyone what wrong with there being a one time young flyertalker meeting for those in their 20s.

I have been accused of everything from being near racist cause I choose to include an age. I didn't mean to offend people but there are many general get-togethers and I'll be happy to attend one. But maybe for one nite people would prefer a 20s get together. It is open to everyone just of a certain age or near that age. If people of that agree, they'll show up, and please let it be.. If not they can always go to a general get together. You can not dispute "in general" people in their 20s value things different than that of people in their 30s and their 40s and for one nite what's the harm?..

Yes I can dispute it that you value different things than those not in your "demographic". Most of those on this board who have passed the 30 mark can attest to the fact age is irrelevant, attitude and personality are what matters.

PremEx May 2, 2003 4:32 pm

"Attitude and personality" are not what matters if age is the stated criteria.

welookgood.com...don't let 'em get to you. It's your party and I don't see you doing anything at all wrong or inappropriate.

I'm just jealous that my age has forced me out of the opportunity to join you. But I understand completely why you're planning it this way and more power to you!!

welookgood,

You just opened up another can of worms. You left out folks 'wholookgood' that are 50. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

By the way, PremEx is right. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I have just posted a lengthy response supporting your idea in your original thread:

See FlyerTalk under 30 get together?
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum.../003302-2.html

Basically, some people are afraid of death, hence afraid of growing old. Eventually the feelings of "hurt and exclusion" will die down, or perhaps the middle-agers and old-timers will actually follow through on their own competing plans.

But for reasons such as those advocated by people like PremEx and me, go for it!.

I have one quibble with the conclusion of your topic-opening post in this thread about youthful "values." From my post in the other thread:

Age may be just a number, and absolutely no determinant of values, interests, or much else of true significance, but it does lead to a greater likelihood of currently shared life experiences.
Enjoy!

[Edited because, as a 30+ individual, I am computer and UBB challenged!]

Lol. This thread is troll bait if i have EVER seen it.

However, and not to disagree TOO loudly with Premex, if you want to have a private party, you might do well to not announce it on the Internet http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. I just invited my local chapter of the Hell's Angels http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif.

Mock on, mock on, Voltaire, Rousseau:
Mock on, mock on: 'tis all in vain!
You throw the sand against the wind,
And the wind blows it back again.
