welookgood,
You're taking this the wrong way. For whatever reason, since you haven't noticed yet; we LIKE you. That's why we're all kidding you about your post. Have your DO. It's ok with us. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Dan |

The boorishness and immaturity expressed by certain of the elderly folks on the Do threads tells exactly why we need an under-30 gathering. Many of us younger FTers are sick and tired of the disrespect and mistreatment at the hands of others, be they airline personnel, or certain older FTers without lives of their own.
Welookgood.com, if you or someone else is still up to plan a DO for the under-30, I would be happy to assist in any way I can. Granted, I can't take the lead on organizing myself due to other commitments, but it now more clear to me than ever that the younger FTers HAVE to meet... ------------------ Thank you for choosing Continental Airlines, a proud member of the SkyTeam Alliance. |

Interesting comments, as the current situation on FlyerTalk Community is quickly starting to resemble that of a past situation in The Coupon Connection.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/002687.html Is this FlyerTalk Community or OMNI? The various threads are not about a get-together, rather about mocking a proposed get-together. <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by techgirl: I would be surprised if I am. Someone gave me a heads-up that this thread was possibly getting out of hand. Hmm ...
I'm not going to lock down this thread, but it is bordering on the uncivil. Can we take it down a coupla notches? Thanks. --------- essxjay FT Community moderator [This message has been edited by essxjay (edited 05-03-2003).] |
Since everyone else has seemed to have been afflicted with open mouth stick foot in disease I might as well add my two cents.
This is not the first time that someone has posted that they wanted to have a "restricted attendance event" and I imagine it will not be the last. Each of the previous events were also met with the debate and mockery that is taking place around this event. 1) I would guess that if you posted an event here on FT Community and I being a member of the FT Community felt that I wanted to go then I would go and screw the consequences. seems to me this happened at one of the Catman events. I can not remember the number but it was the one I went to and that is what happened. 2)If you posted an event that was restricted as to the number who could attend but I was able to make my own reservations and attend at the same time along with a great number of other members then screw the consequences. seems to me that is what happened in Chicago 3)If you want to post an event that was restricted to sexual orientation and I wanted to attend and be part of the event (crashing the party so to say) then screw the consequences. seems to recollect that one the catylst for the beginning of the glbt travelers forum All the above took place here and were discussed and the same naysayers said get a life to the same yeasayers. Most everyone I have met at FT events and the number is easily at this point in the hundreds would not be so DUMB to go to an event where they were not going to have a good time. Those same persons I have met would not be so DUMB to not go to an event where they were going to have a good time. If you post an activity that I want to attend than I will notify you I am attending. (see #1 above) If you post an activity that I do not want to attend I will not make any notification. (normal) If you post an activity that I want to attend and you restrict the number and I find that I can make my own reservations I just may do that (see #2 above) Who knows maybe out of our lively debate maybe another forum will be created like the welookgoodandtravel.andhaveproblemswhiledoingso.an dneedtodiscussthiswithotherswhohavethesameproblem. forum (see #3 above) |
I wish those planning the Flyertalk under 30 event good luck. Sorry that you have to go through all of this drama.
I've been there. If you would permit me... Magic TO clarify the event you speak of in your post: Seems to me that's happened at one of the Catman events. I can not remember the number but it was the one I went to and that is what happened. It was The Catman do Trois/3 (March 23-25, 2001 As I posted on my thread (perhaps not clearly enough for some http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends again and meeting new ones in NYC this March! http://www.flyertalk.com/pasttalk/ft...ML/000639.html And on my website: http://members.aol.com/millionmileflyer/catmando3.html I said I was inviting my FRIENDS to come to this weekend. (Can hear some people syaing now "oh GOD, Catman's bringing up ancient history! Give it up" This is for the benefit of anyone who's planning a do now or in the future) As it was stated several times here and other threads... it's your party. You set the rules. And if you can't attend because of those rules you don't CRASH the party (I never would.) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Now when I planned my Catman do Trois and said I was looking forward to seeing my FRIENDS ... Someone who clearly was no FRIEND of mine decided to come. No notification via e-mail as I asked, just decided to show up - crash the party. Hense started a 12 page thread, lots of e-mails and a lot of angenia and headaches on what my event was about and if what I was doing was fair. It got so bad I was thisclose to just canceling myself out or canceling the entire event. I left the boards prior to the event because it got so bad for me -- and driving a few people who were very close to me crazy over all of this. A few people who wanted to come who are my FRIENDS decided to cancel out. But eventually things got resolved. That whole experience made me very gunshy on doing a Catman do Quadre. (Kathy, we already went on the debate on my use of grammar http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ) But if I do, I will again emphasize "My Flyertalk FRIENDS " Thank you for playing. We now go back to our regular scheduled debating http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
