Should moderators be held to a higher standard?

I came upon this post today in which an FT member, who happens to be a moderator of some of the forums, specifically indicates that he violates airline CoC by engaging in "hidden city ticketing". (The post is not in the same forums he/she moderates.)

While I am aware that many FT members do or imply such a thing, I feel that moderators occupy a unique position of trust on a website and their posts tend to carry more authority. Publicly acknowledging such conduct which may be considered unethical does not seem consistent with the intent of this website.

Should moderators be held to a higher standard with regard to posting/admitting conduct not in conformance with airline rules?

It should be the same standard as moderators are members first and foremost.

For those who read that member's post in context and actually understand the meaning of "even if" and of Y and F (which are full-fare indications), I see nothing objectionable in that post which you quoted.

Merely not paying a parking meter (or otherwise parking where/when not permitted) while running into a Starbucks for a few minutes is not the crime of fraud. Regarding the member -- who just incidentally happens to be a moderator too -- whom you are singling out, he is rightfully lampooning the idea of bringing up the crime of fraud in this context.

In his welcome message, Randy writes:

There's really only one restriction on this forum, one that has long been part of my philosophy on FlyerTalk. If you have a personal issue with another member, and that includes a moderator (as they are first and foremost members), then please direct that question or issue to me directly. Moderator issues, like member issues, are personal in nature, and as long as I have anything to do with FlyerTalk, I will strive to treat personal issues as personal. Those issues are best handled by writing me: [email protected]
Therefore, I'll close this so Randy can respond as he best sees fit.
