Unhappy Too late for a good deal from MSP to GSP?

I need a RT from MSP to GSP/or CTL leaving March 13-15 returning March 20. Hoping for something around $200 but can't find anything even close to that. Checked all the regulars: expedia, orbitz etc. And also the airlines themselves (United's going for over $600! for economy).

Any ideas from thee, wise traveling wizards?

Welcome to FT.

When people don't purchase their tickets at least 14 or 21 days in advance, they are acting like business people, so the airlines charge accordingly.

Yeah it'll be too close for a good deal. Keep an eye on the US Air last minute flights. I've seen that route (MSP-CLT) for 109$ each way++. But don't hold your breath.

I saw MSP-FLO for 379 and MSP-RDU for 340$

You might consider bidding via Priceline.

Not true. Quite often the airfares nowadays are really low even when booking last minute. This may not apply to the OP's city pair though.

AVL would help the OP more though if the OP is trying to get to GSP.

I consider ~$500 r/t airfare to be typical 7 day airfare.

Thanks guys. I wasn't optimistic to begin with, but just thought I'd double check with the masters. I did try nearbys such as ATL & AVL...

I think we'll just end up driving (blasphemous to say on FT?).
