Round-the-world not common it seems

Just rang the BA office in Bremmen to book a round the world ticket and hit a brick wall.

'er, I think I have a number here somewhere for that kind of thing....er no but I have an email [email protected] they can help...bye'.

The oneworld.com application is not much help either. There is one segment SFO>HNL with AA that just won't go green whatever date, whatever class (although on the AA site there is plenty of availability).

Any ideas?

You might be better off asking a mod to move this to the OW forum.

Are you sure you are following the ticketing rules on the OW website?

Post your complete routing in the OW forum and I am sure someone will help you. I am pretty sure there is also a dedicated RTW number for BA here in the UK but an not 100% sure on this. Again the folks in the OW forum will know for sure.

Thanks, Moomba. I guess if a mod sees this they will move it, right?

Will take this up over on the OW site as suggested.

Are you sure your routing is valid? Going to HNL your next flight must be to Australia or Japan - only one flight between HNL and continental USA allowed.

Yep, next stop is SYD. I just got a quote through a travel agent and they could book it no problems. If only One World had real people working for it I could ask them what the problem is :-)

If you have already ticketed it is too late for this advice.

1) You could try AA. Their RTW desk is quite good, and taxes will likely be a lot lower than ticketing with BA.

or

2) Just select all the flights you want from the online tool. If there is an error you can copy & paste the itinerary and give it to an airline or TA to check out.

Great idea! This worked splendidly for me and my Korean agent. And it was tons of fun developing the itinerary w/ the tool.

Thanks Kiwi Flyer. There was an ad for a company on this site which I got a quote from.

I thought taxes were an airport thing rather than an airline thing.

Real taxes are dependant on airports and countries visited. However included in the "taxes & charges" is fuel surcharge - and this varies enormously by airline and route.

Ok, thought that is what you meant. So, if I book a flight for example with 2 sectors on BA, 2 on AA and 2 on Qantas, are you saying that the fuel surcharges will depend on which airline I actually book it through or are you saying that if I book it through AA, they will get me on more sectors with AA therefore reducing the fuel surcharge because AA's fuel surcharge is lower?

Btw, that tool on the One World site seems to be a bit hit and miss. I have actually never managed to make it work properly.

Fuel surcharges depend on the airline you ticket with.
