Can anyone report success with changing the date of the first flight and getting the discount? I bought a LONE5 earlier this month and am thinking about changing the first flight's date to try for the discount, but I'd like to know if it's worked for anyone else.

Thanks!

I priced out an AONE4 ex JNB before coming to work this morning and it came in at 6006 GBP.

You might have to try yourself and get back to us as the new prices only kicked in today.

Eliza, I would expect you would need to cancel and get a refund less 10% and get the new 10% off fare on a new booking.

Which makes it a bit moot.

This may, however, be viable for D/AONEx's with thier 5% cancellation fee.

If travel has commenced, forget it.

AA have advised the following after I queried changing my DONE4, booked 10 days ago, to take advantage of the 10% discount:

"The 10% discount - is applicable as of today. If you'd like to change your first segment, please advise the new date so as to recalculate the fare. No penalty is applicable."

I'm in the process of changing the first flight so as to get this discount. I'll report back when it's all done.

Anyone have any ideas 'bout this one before I call the AA RTW desk?

I'm about halfway through an AONE3 ex-ICN bought during the earlier 10% sale. If I want to change it now to an AONE4, how is the up-charge calculated?

I believe it should be the difference pertaining at the time you did the original ticketing. Which should be the 10%-reduced AONE4 price at that time. In KRW, converted at today's exhcange rate (if you're not paying in KRW).

I was told by BA's USA RTW desk that you cannot get the lower price even if you trigger a re-issue

Hi, if talking about AA- can I combine this 10% discount with using of transportation vouchers? In theory, no AA original online discounts can be combined with paper transportation vouchers, but in the promotion rules it mentions that the discount can be applied by AA agents as well, meaning, the discount is not online only.

Any ideas? Can I call AA, ask to apply the discount and ask to apply my vouchers as well for the same travel?

Not sure how they are actioning a refund at the same time of a reissue. To apply the discount they must be refunding the original ticket sans the penalty and then issuing a whole new ticket at the discounted fare.

I haven't had the chance to call and try it yet, but I did notice this in the oneworld Explorer rule sheet on the web (Section 16(a)(1)(a)):

(a) Changes to date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory changes are permitted provided ticketed
points remain the same. If the first flight is being changed, and the fare level has increased
since ticket issuance, the difference between the old and new fare will be charged. If the fare
level has decreased since ticket issuance, no refund will apply.

Success. AA has just confirmed my refund of just over ZAR5000, a little more than 10% of the fare paid. All I did was change the date of the first flight by advancing it by one day (it's not an intercontinental flight). I also told AA that there was every chance I would change the date again, back to the original.
