feedback on a few stop RTW - LONEx
Hi all
Am thinking of taking an RTW trip this year as a way of maximising a return trip LHR SYD, to get a few stopovers and visit a few people...
Current itinerary is
lhr-sin-syd-lax-lhr
Dont know if there is a better way of doing this, - another program for example, and also if anyone has seen any cheap deals - most of the ones I can find are >x2 the best return fare for my dates (700+), leaving mid August
I am FF with Oneworld (QF) and also have some points in Etihad.
Thanks for your time
Al

From the money you are talking about I think you mean a LONEx fare?
The first character of these designates the class:
A - First
D - Business
L - Economy
The last character is the number of continents.
The value of the RTW fares is dependant on how many stops you make. On a simple routing like yours they may not be your best bet.
Have you tried some of the travel agents in London like Flight Centre, Austravel etc. They may be able to give you a better deal with other non OW RTW tickets.
If you wanted to add a stop somewhere in Asia, like NRT for example and some more travel within the US or Aus then the xONEx will probably win out on the value front.
Do you have any other goals, like maximising mileage or status credits? If you do then let us know and people will be able to suggest the most beneficial routing.
Hope this helps.

Also, since you're starting in London, it may be less costly to buy (with cash or miles) a ticket to JNB, then buy your xONEx ticket there. As Moomba said, if you give us more details, you'll find that the FT community will be happy to help.

Given the price your quoting I think you want to go economy. KLM has a RTW deal with Air New Zealand that is supposedly the cheapest out there. Around 900 euro. So GBP 700 is not bad. Not bad at all.

Thanks for your responses guys
My mistake - yes - its economy I am after - will look at the JNB option as I had an AONE5 ticketed from there earlier this year which came in cheap, and sadly I had to cancel!
Will also have a look at the KLM/Air NZ option - see what they can throw up
I guess my other goal is maximising what I can get out of the deal - I know if I do another return LHR-SYD with Etihad I can get lounge access on the way back, but I dont think that I'd get enough miles with QF/BA to make much of a difference to my tiny miles balance?! If I can get something extra to make future flying between LHR-SYD more pleasurable, that'd be my goal I guess!
Thanks

I had a ticket issued by QF
LHR-HKG-MEL-LAX-LHR
for 599 pounds all inclusive.
I am not sure if QF do the deal in AU or not. Full QF miles with this O class ticket.
