Antitrust Immunity Announcement

Oneworld members American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, and Royal Jordanian expect to receive antitrust immunity to cooperate on transatlantic services from US and EU regulators and AA, BA, and IB also expect ATI for their transatlantic joint venture within the broader partnership, they told media Monday in Kuala Lumpur. "We are very confident the application will be received favorably in the US and Europe," BA CEO Willie Walsh said at the IATA AGM, adding that AA, BA and IB have asked the European Commission to move forward with its so-called "Statement of Objections" to their three-way partnership. re: Air Transport World

Yes, but I don't see anything new here. They expect their application to be approved. Didn't they say that from the start?

You are correct, they have said that all along but I believe it was very optimistic expectations. I never felt good about it, until now.

I'll only be celebrating when the deal is done. There was going to be a close BA/AA tie up years ago. QF and BA were going to merge. QF and NZ were going to merge. QF and MH wanted to get into bed together. None of these happened.

I'm not holding my breath.
