Checking in Baggage from DXB to DUB via LHR

Hi,

I am flying BA from DXB to LHR and then have an Aer Lingus flight from LHR to DUB. These are two seperate bookings but can I check luggage in at DXB right through to DUB as these airlines are part of the same alliance?

Regards,

Brendan

I don't know the answer to your question, but Aer Lingus hasn't been a member of OneWorld for well over a year.

In general, being part of the same alliance doesn't guarantee you'll be able to check baggage through on different tickets. Conversely, it may be possible in this case, depending on BA rules and interlining agreements (I'm completely unfamiliar with both).

Most likely you can do it on the way into DUB, but you will likely be forced to pay for the luggage ex DUB to LHR based on the EI fees- check it out, it could cost you a lot if luggage is heavy.

If your EI flights are actually booked as BA code shares, then you are probably ok in both directions

BA's policy is quite straightforward

If on separate tickets, BA will only transfer bags if the onward carrier is a OW carrier. Since EI is no longer in OW, you can expect to have to collect bags in LHR

Does BA only code share on EI flights between LHR and DUB on connecting trips?

I believe that's the case.
