xONEx AA issue

I've read that for AA to issue a ticket, you need at least one transpac leg on AA.

Can this be an AA codeshare on CX (JFK-HKG) or does it need to be on AA metal?

Thanks

Fraser

AA codeshares will do too.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have quickly done an online RTW fare ex-ICN:

ICN-HKG-NRT-SIN-LHR-DXB-LHR-LAX-JFK-DFW-YVR-DFW-MIA-JFK-HKG-ICN

and got a fare of 6925400KRW. Taxes (included in this price) were 1796500, meaning they were about 35% of the base fare. Does this sound reasonable?
Is there any way I could get this lower?

Any general comments on the routing would be appreciated as well.

I guess it depends on the reason for your RTW. There are ways to optimize based on points, etc. For example, unless you have a reason to go to HKG from ICN, why not do ICN-NRT and pick up an extra segment somewhere else?

I think there are a couple of people on here who have the contact info of a TA in ICN who can get you ticketed on AA and who takes credit card payment. FWIW, my DONE4 came our to just under 500,000 KRW in taxes, which is a sizeable savings from what you have here.

Your info doesn't indicate where you are located, but don't forget the Canada purchase option, too, in case it's more convenient. I've got a verrry quick round trip to YYZ scheduled for later this week to pick up my next ex-ICN ticket. The fun thing is that since I don't use anywhere near 16 segments on my trips, the YYZ turn is free, built into the current AONE4.

If you're interested, I also have a Canadian TA who can issue the RTW ticket on AA stock and who will take credit card payments, and can arrange to courier the tickets to you if they are paper-based.

Thanks all for your help.

This is my first time booking a RTW fare, and I am finding it fairly confusing.

ACN Consultant, I live in Australia, so does the Canada option still make sense?

If anyone has the details of the TA in Korea, could they kindly PM them to me. Also, does anyone have experience with using an Australian CC to purchase from Korea, in terms of exchange rate and fees.

Thanks again.

fraserm,

I'm a Canadian living in Sydney, so I found that it was marginally cheaper for me to book through my Canadian TA since I could use my Canadian credit card, and just be charged the IATA exchange rate. With currency exchange fees on my credit card, I saved about 2% on the whole transaction, plus with booking through my TA, I get a secondary source of assistance in case I can't get anywhere with the airlines if I need assistance. I've also know the TA since we were, like, 5 years old, so I know I'm being taken care of.
