FAQ

When is [insert airline here] joining oneworld???
Which airlines are lined up to join?
See list below and
https://www.oneworld.com/member-airlines/overview
Another useful page for official announcements is: https://www.oneworld.com/news-information/oneworldnews

Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):

WY - Oman Air
Announced 20JUN22, with a target of '2024' - no indication yet when in 2024 this may be. https://www.oneworld.com/news/2022-0...-join-oneworld

Expected members:

FJ - Fiji Airways
Currently the only oneworld Connect member, FJ stated 28FEB24 that they would like to seek full membership and would apply in Q3 2024.Full membership may still take until 2025/2026. #1489 and https://onemileatatime.com/news/fiji-airways-oneworld/

EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

Its split though at the moment?
BA - Daily service moves to PKX
AY - New 3/wk to PKX, daily to PEK
AA - Still listed at PEK, but reportedly considering, and has CZ relationship
CX - Still listed at PEK, some suggestions it might split CX vs KA fleet, CA ownership
QF/QR/S7 - Seemingly remaining at PEK - mostly O&D, other Chinese airports better for domestic transfers

I strongly believe AA will move to PKX because this is key to cashing in on its CZ investment. Basically, CZ's strong presence in CAN and URC doesn't provide any strategic benefit to AA, but its 40% of operations at the --future-- largest airport in the world sure does. While it's true that PKX is on the wrong side of town wrt where most people want to be, that's changing, ground transportation options a[[ear to be decent if not good, and anyone who actually wants to go do Dallas nonstop will suck it up and follow AA. I also predict, albeit much less strongly, that BA will ink a meaningful bilateral agreement with CZ. They are going to need all the help they can get filling planes, and this would allow BA to sell tickets to many destinations that CX/KA don't serve (not to mention HKG is at a geographical disadvantage).

A slide showed that they position Air Europe in the same category as Air Lingus (as a basic airline but not as a low-cost player such as Vueling and Level). That makes me at least hope that they will join OW one day.
UPDATE: Target date to join OW would be somewhere 2025.

Which is why Willie Walsh plans to merge all brands into one. My assumption, is that the brands will emerge as Iberia.

BA and CZ get even closer with a proper UK-China JV
https://www.businesstraveller.com/bu...joint-venture/

Also to update the PEK/PKX discussion. Qantas will remain at PEK until March 2020 when it will cease service to Beijing (3rd time now it has done that)

Various blogs now saying 31 March 2020 as the Royal Air Maroc join date, brought forward from mid-2020, seemingly based on French media.
Nothing on the oneworld site yet.

(Hopefully it's not another Kingfisher, Mexicana or Air Berlin)

Maybe the rumour that LA wants to exit oneworld before Oct. 2020 is partly due to this? LA has no incentive to establish link with AT. EI cited the same reason and left on the day JL, RJ, and MA joined oneworld.

I have a LONE3 ticket ex MAN starting in June. I have three stopovers in my originating continent - although one at DOH is just 24hrs25mins. Explained to BA call centre that this was possibly problematic as I understood only two were allowed but she assured me all would be well. I can see the full itinerary on BA.com and it's been paid for on my Amex card.

Am I wrong? If not should I stop (mildly) worrying?

Thanks in advance.

Not a "Who will be the next oneworld member? + New membership" question
Best to ask in The oneworld explorer ticket FAQs

I know the question is OT and in the wrong forum, but I have faced the same problem more than once. The ticket will be honored as long as the ticket does not have to be reissued before the three stopovers are flown. If you try to change the ticket (say, by making a flight change downstream) then BA may refuse to reissue without dropping one of the stopovers. Unfortunately, in my most recent case, the ticket was involuntarily reissued before the first flight was flown (because BA dropped some Malta flights) and they would not reissue the original itinerary.

I doubt it. Royal Air Maroc introducd a new top tier because their existing top tier was too easy to achieve.
