Lower price exception: EU or ECAA

Thought this could be interesting. Was reading the oneworld rule sheet and found this (haven't seen it mentioned before on FT):

When travel originates in a country for which a specific local currency fares is published and the ticket is sold in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted to the currency of the country of sale at the bank selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than from the country of sale. Exception: Not applicable for sales made and/or travel originating in Canada or the European Common Aviation Area (ECAA).
I previously assumed that the lower price exception related to the EU only. The ECAA is significantly bigger than the EU, given that it includes the 27 EU members as well as Norway, Iceland, all of ex-Yugoslavia (including Montenegro) and Albania. Switzerland (hopefully) and Turkey are also in talks to join the ECAA in the next future.

This fact opens up even more possibilities to take advantage of the exception in Europe.

The exemption was originally EU only but revised to ECAA.

I think the "and/or travel originating in" bit is a relatively recent change, and the rate desk isn't fully aware of it yet. I recently tried to price a RTW originating in London and ticketed in Bermuda and they tried to raise the fare to the Bermuda price--they corrected the fare after I quoted the fare rules.

Try searching for the forum for "Canada" & "exception" ...

The exception for Canada was re-introduced some time 2007 (IIRC), EU counties were added as also being valid for this exception with an xONEx rules revision published in November last year:

That's clear now. I remember having seen/read about the EU exemption, but not the ECAA one. Thanks for the clarification.
