AONE5 questions
JNB-HKG-BOM-HKG-BKK-HKG-NRT-LAX-YVR-JFK-GRU-EZE-SCL-MAD-FRA-LHR-NBO
1. Is this a valid routing, given I pay USD550 for the extra segment in Asia?
2. Do I have any realistic chance of bagging an A class seat in JL NRT-LAX?
3. How would I get from LAX to YVR - can I book into Alaska Airlines?
Many thanks!

2. Who knows? I'd book into AA A and switch to JL (no charge) if it opens on your day(s.) AA F service over the Pacific is no slouch, and the Flagship Suites are a d@mn fine hard product.
3. You're free to use any means you deem appropriate; you just can't use AS as part of the xONEx ticket.

You can always buy HKG-BKK-HKG separate. Check www.zuji.com, fare incl. taxes 400 US$ approx.
This would fee up a sector for the necessary connection LAX-YVR.

To avoid paying the extra segment why don't you fly BOM-BKK direct on CX? This is operated by the 744. Flight # is CX750 and operates on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Otherwise, skip one of your HKG transits (?) and fly BKK-NRT nonstop on JL. JL has three daily flights on the route, on a combination of 744 and 777. May be JALways operated, though, and I don't know how the first cabin looks like on these services.
You would lose some miles by doing so, but would not need to buy an additional segment in Asia and you would free up a sector in North America to fly LAX-DFW-YVR.
