I used the JL J Lounge and the QF J lounge in NRT and found the QF lounge to be much better - Especially when there are no QF flights departing.

Nice chairs, nice food and drinks (self service), power points, lots of PC's and big windows.

I was welcomed into the JL FLounge in June when in transit arriving on CX and departing on AA (travelling in J on DONE4). My OneWorld Emerald status was all that was needed for entry and to sample the excellent selection of scotches.

Thanks for all the helpful info. I've now got a strategy and expect to have a shower and still be spot on time for my 8:15 meet-up with my friend.
Many thanks~

is it just me, or is the QF lounge in the NRT T2 satellite terminal ridiculously hard to find? I walked the entire length of the satellite two or three times before finally finding it

If you arrive at the satellite terminal it is right in front when you clear security.

Yeah, I walked straight past it obviously Still, they could do with some better signage at NRT, IMHO.

Admittedly I hadn't slept for 36+ hours

Going there tomorrow -- I've never checked out the QF lounge before (didn't realize where it was until recently). Based on chrisb's advice, it sounds worth the walk. At the moment I'm holed up in Narita City, and tomorrow's flight (NRT-ORD, continuing to SEA) marks the first of a new RTW.

If you have OneWorld Emerald status, then I suggest the JAL F lounge is a better place to pass the time, especially if you like a wide selection of very good scotches .

I just have OW Sapphire status for now... although when the latest flights post, I should be up to AA Exec. Plat and can enjoy that in the future. I'll keep that in mind about the scotches.

I did check out the Qantas lounge (it's easy to find, and the skytrain is quick) and it has a nice atmosphere as someone else reported. There are also lots of PCs and a printer. I think I still prefer the food in the JAL lounge-- miso soup, noodles, a couple of other dishes, nice salad bar, etc. So maybe the best answer is to lounge-hop, which I usually do anyway.

Don't waste your time with the other Sakura lounge (in the satellite terminal). It is much smaller than the main one.

I just arrived at LAX after sampling the JL first class lounge at NRT. Absolutely sensational. Food choices are mediocre, but views are great, champagne is MOET Brut Imperial, and the staff sensational. Great way to wait for the flight to LAX... Incidentally I took AA to LAX... not bad at all...

They had some form of Ruinart when I was there in June. Agreed it is a nice lounge, but pretty busy when I was there, maybe not quite as good as the QF F lounge in SYD.
