How to Waitlist D on BA LHR-ACC

Hi,

Have booked my business partner and I on a DONE5 which includes a LHR-ACC leg. At the moment we want to travel on 4 Aug. We have confirmed one seat on 5 Aug and one on 6 Aug. The AA RTW desk said she was unable to waitlist a seat for us and that sometimes BA allows it and sometimes not. Both the 4 & 5 Aug flights seem to have ample J inventory according to EF.

So my question - does anyone knwo how we get a waitlist on BA for either one extra D seat on the 5 Aug or move us both to D on 4 Aug. Is either strategy better?

Is it worth begging the Explat desk to send a message to the BA rep to see if they can help.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Paul

BA stopped waitlisting for D class in 2006. See this thread and the links in this post.

KVS, which uses a UK POS rather than a US POS, shows J9 C7 D4 on BA81 for August 4th. Why don't you call a BA reservation desk & quote your DONE5 ticket number(s)?

It didn't last night (showed D0) when, out of curiosity, I went and looked. It probably doesn't now either, as you're looking at July 4, not August 4 ....

The differences in availability are all down to Point of Sale:

US POS (KVS Apollo/ITN):

OK - A little confused But I did have one win last nigth which was that EF showed D1 on the 5 Aug this mornig and I was able to grab that so we are at least on the same flight. AA can defintiely not see anything on 4 Aug.

Until we ticket it I gather we won't be able to call BA and ask them for the 4 Aug so I'll get it ticketed ASAP.

Thanks for the advice

As a side question we had to separate the bookings to two PNR's when we were on separate flights. Sounds like they have to completely reconstruct the bookings (and possibly lose the said LHR-ACC flight in the process) if we want them back under one PNR - so I said to TA don't bother. Is there any reason to bother??

Probably not.

I think it's fairly easy to split PNR's (I suspect there's some fairly straightforward 'mechanism' for doing so) but adding someone (i.e., combining) may, as they seem to suggest, be more like starting over to add the second person and therefore may not be nearly so easy.

The only time Mrs. tt7 and I end up with separate PNR's is if we're on award tickets and the miles have come from our separate accounts (instead of just one of the accounts), in which case they have to split the PNRs or where we've had a DONE4 and I've left a few days before her etc., so they have to be split. It always seems preferable to me that, if you're travelling together, it's better to be in one PNR so that if anything goes wrong somewhere along the way, whichever airline you're about to fly knows that the two of you are together, rather than just being two unrelated passengers. Hopefully, that's no big deal but it just seems 'safer' to both be in one PNR. However, you may be able to get them to "link" the two PNR's so that it is apparent that you are travelling together. I think that works for AA but not sure whether it is effective once you get to other carriers on the ticket.

As an aside, I have to ask why you're going to ACC(ra)? I went there - probably 30 years ago now - on business and to Lagos a few years later. I'd have to say those are two places that I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to ever return to.
