Breaking a DONE4 transit in LHR

I am unfortunately coming to the end of a fantastic ex-STO DONE4. The last part is BKK-xLHR-STO. I want to stay in London for a while and take the flight to Stockholm later (if at all). When I attempt to move the fight to LHR and NOT the following flight to STO will anything be triggered in the system?? I am ticketed with QF who don't really seem as hot on the rules as AA.

Not sure I understand the above, rogerj

In general terms, you can change a transit into a stopover, by making a date change to the booking for the second sector (i.e. LHR-STO in your case). Date changes are free - BUT they might entail a change in fees and other threads have spoken about the heavy stopover fees at LHR.

Some problems for you might be:
  • Since you started in STO, you have to end in Sweden
  • Have you already used up your two allowed European stopovers? (that's the most you are allowed in the Continent of Origin)

Sorry, I will try and be a bit clearer!

My last three flights of a DONE4 are

KIX-BKK
BKK-LHR
LHR-STO

I have LHR as a transit to avoid the large taxes. If want to stopover now instead of transit is there an easy way of doing this rather than having the whole ticket re-issued and having to pay the re-issue fee?

I would imagine that you could change the dates of BKK-LHR or LHR-STO under the "free changes with no reissue" rule, and then pay the LHR departure tax upon check-in (or not if they don't catch it at that point).

Provided, as pandaperth said, the OP has not already made two stop-overs in Europe - their continent of origin and thus whilst four segment can be flown, only two stop-overs should be allowed. The OP doesn't say what they did at the start of their DONE4 so we can't tell. Not sure if anyone has tried and succeeded in getting away with a date change to sneak another stop-over in.
