Combining oneworld fares: Kebosabi asked on 22 April if it is possible to combine oneworld fares – for instance a round-the-world fare with a single continent Visit pass. The anwer is yes – provided you fuflil the requirements of the fares. So, for a Visit pass, you must arrive from a different continent first before beginning your Visit pass journey.

Viajero: Sorry to hear of the problems you have encountered booking oneworld fares. They should be bookable through any oneworld airline’s sales outlets, no matter which oneworld carriers are included in whatever order on the itinerary. If you can provide specifics – which sales outlet and when – we will follow this up.

Mmcmah: I look forward to the beers! Sorry to hear of the problems you had in getting your award flight on Cathay Pacific. We will follow up the points you make with them and AA.

Davidthomson: If you are traveling LHR-LAX and then LAX-YYZ, then that is not a wholly North American itinerary, so the AA exception you highlight should not apply. I note you are flying LHR-LAX economy, so lounge access at LAX would only apply if you have a oneworld Emerald of Sapphire tier frequent flyer card.

aaupgrade: Lucky friend! Technically, lounge access is for the outbound portion of a flight, so as your friend is flying outbound from NRT in Economy he/she should not expect to gain access to the lounge. But as he/she will have flown inbound First Class, the folks on duty may be flexible depending on how busy the place is on the day etc.

Thanks oneworld4u. My main query was because both flights are on diferent tickets, not the same. So I didnt know if that still qualified as one itinerary or not. I am Sapphire, so no problem for access as far as that goes. Cheers.

Taxes Not detailed On RTW Tickets

To ONEWORLD4 U:
Welcome to the forum!!

It is great to know we have an advocate for us !!!

I have had a problem with the CX JNB office:

After 6 separate requests to the JNB office for the breakdown of the taxes for an AONE4 and requests through CX USA (YVR). I have run up against a brick wall.

The JNB office refuses to give me a breakdown on the taxes for an AONE4 ticket that I recently purchased!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked for the breakdown before purchase since the taxes seemed abnormally high over 13% percent of the ticket price.

All the totals are lumped together on the XT line with no breakdown.
Where do I go for a resolution or to report this??

I am being stonewalled by JNB.

HELP!!

I am concered that I will end up paying addtional taxes as has been reported on this forum! (at ICN and LHR )

We do police this and if breaches of this code are identified they are taken up with the airline concerned.

A belated welcome to FT, good to see some pro-active involvement from the OW central team.

Whilst this tenet may apply to official benefits, such as check-in and lounge access, it doesn't when it comes to unofficial benefits such as UGs.

BA and CX have publicly stated that they will UG their own programme members in preference to OW Emerald or Sapphire members of other schemes. How does this sit with your policy, or is it considered an unofficial benefit and therefore outside your remit?

AA PLT on Codeshare IB Flight - Requesting Exit Row

Hello oneworld4u -- I've posted my query weeks ago in the 'Other European Frequent Flyer Programs' forum, and even in this forum before that, to no avail. Perhaps you could kindly provide some insight.

I'm OW Sapphire flying IB (AA codeshare) BOS-MAD. As a rather tall (1.94m) passenger, I'd very much appreciate reserving an exit row seat for the TATL flight. I called Iberia's dripping-with-attitude customer service line and they told me, in so many words, that I can inquire about exit-row seating when I check in.

I fly SFO-DFW and DFW-BOS on AA, landing in BOS two hours before my flight to MAD departs. Could I call Iberia and get an exit row seat upon check-in at SFO or at DFW, or do I have to wait until I arrive at BOS, which, given the time, means I probably won't get it?

Visit South America Pass

I have been trying to book a Visit South America Pass--a OneWorld product. On the webpage describing the product (http://www.oneworld.com/ow/air-trave...-south-america), there is the following paragraph: "When you are ready to make a booking please contact your travel agent or a reservations office of ANY oneworld member airline. Due to the complexity of these products, on-line booking through member airline sites is not currently available; however, reservations staff at the member airlines will be pleased to assist you. For contact information select the member airline of your choice below." (Emphasis added.) However, British Airways claims not to sell this (although they do sell other single-continent passes). American does sell it, although they apparently require the tickets into and out of South America to be on the same PNR, which is not required by the rules. Be that as it may, how can OneWorld claim that I can purchase this from "any oneworld member airline," when BA refuses to sell the product (regardless of whether I'm flying round-trip on a BA-ticketed flight or otherwise). If the answer is that only AA and LA sell this product, then I would think the website should be updated to reflect that fact. Thanks.

More from oneworld4u

2old4coach: Sorry for the delay in getting back with a response on your query. Usually tickets should feature a complete breakdown of taxes/charges etc. It could be that if you were traveling on a long and complicated journey, with lots of different segments, the format of the ticket etc may have been constrained in displaying this. If you could drop an email to me directly via FT with your full name and ticket number, Cathay Pacific has offered to look into this for you/us.

cAAribmorpho: Thanks for your support of oneworld and our member airlines – but please pursue this query through the regular customer-contact channels at the appropriate airlines. This forum is not the right place for handling individual traveller’s specific queries about seat requests etc… Sorry! Trust they manage to sort things out for you OK.

jgold: Sorry (that's three sorrys in this posting... not how things should be, or maybe I am just feeling very apologetic today!) to hear about your difficulties in booking a oneworld Visit South America pass. Can you please let me know which BA sales outlet refused you, and when, so that we can follow up on this. I do hope you were able to make your booking eventually.

I can help on that one - if 2old4coach plugs either the Amadeus RLOC OR the e-ticket number into this LAN website the full details of the PNR, as well as a breakdown of the taxes, will be displayed. It will all be coded though (YQ, KK and all of that bumpf).

Well my friend good luck.....
i am a member of Marco Polo (Silver...gettin into gold) and i just flew Milan-Madrid-S.Domingo and not only i got no benefit rather than a welcome on board from the crew, but i got the scrappiest place on the plane (row 33 on the airbus, this means for me (1.92 cm) not a trip but a torture.
Many thanks to the Iberia office in Milan for not responing at the 6 call made by me and the other more made by my travel agency, and thanks to all the ground staff in Milano for answering my request of a confortable row 8 or 22.
Last but not least, on the return trip (same route S.domingo-Madrid-Milano) i saw a girl with a cast on her left foot, in row 22 A, emergency exit..... i bet on any airline to give an exit row ot who has a mobile difficoulty !!!
NEVER with IBERIA AGAIN !!

You should be able to do seat reservations if you have status, just not an exit row. Some of the bulkhead are not blocked, and can be reserved in advance. Getting an exit row is not an official oneworld benefit, so there is not much to complain about.

Personally I have been upgraded on 3 out of 4 IB longhaul sectors (as a BA gold), so I'm pretty happy about the treatment I got as a oneworld emerald.

I am Ruby status and no upgrades were available, nor the Milan office of Iberia answered the infinite calls we (me and travel agency) made.On line check in is available on with the Iberia card for long haul flights.
Note that i was traveling with my wife and my 3 year old son and in 3 flight out of 4 we were separated by the aisle....
I will never fly Iberia again, next time i go to S.Domingo ( i have a new house there so i will go at least 2 times a year) i try Air France...

I fly usually for business trips with Cathay and if i need anything, the office answers after 2 or max 3 rings and they are extremely kind.
