Problem with JAL/BA reservation systems connection?

I'm on JL11 MEX-YVR next week using an AONE4 ex-MRU. This is a 2 class (business/economy) service and seat 1K was allocated to me many months ago. Recently JAL replaced the 2 class configured B747 on this flight with a 3 class version but it is still being sold in 2 class mode. This resulted in me losing 1K and being allocated 11A. I phoned JAL to find out why I couldn't have a seat in rows 1-3 and they said that those seats (old style first class seats) were reserved for their top tier frequent flyers. I pointed out that I was a OneWorld Emerald and should therefore be eligible for a front cabin seat. After a few moments of investigation they discovered that my AAdvantage FF number had not been passed through to the JAL reservations system from the BA reservations system (where the original reservations and ticketing originated). I have now been allocated 2K and look forward to enjoying the first class cabin & seat on this business class flight!

However, I am left wondering if anybody else has experienced problems with transmission of their FF number from the BA to JAL system? Or was this just a weird one-off occurence?

It's not unusual for this kind of information not to transfer properly between different res systems ...

You can say that again!

Every time we have QF flights on RTW tickets (either DONE4, DCIR22 or DAS17), the AA # is in the SABRE record, its in the QF (Amadeus?) record, they confirm at check-in that it's in the record and it prints on the BP .... but the miles never, ever post automatically.

My wife and I flew MEX-YVR on JL11 a few days ago. We had been assigned row 9 but upon check-in had been moved to seats 1H, 1K without asking for them. I suppose they had information in the system that we were both AA-EXP (on a DONE4 issued by AA in NRT and reissued by AA at YVR).

Incidentally, on the flight down from YVR-MEX the week before we had been assigned seats in row 11 and had not been able, despite several attempts, to get the front cabin but upon requesting moving up at check-in we were moved to 1H,1K --but that was on the 2-class plane.
