Iberia codeshare with Clickair from T2 LHR
Hi all
Sorry this is my first post so forgive me if this is not done 100% right.
I flew LHR-VLC-LHR on flight I purchased on Iberia.com for an codeshare flight op by clickair but with an IB flight number.
As BAEC gold I thought I could check in at business check in desk with IB, but when I tried the check-in assistant refused and told me I had to check in at Clickair!? I am slightly confused as I had an iberia.com itinerary with IB flight numbers and an IB ticket number (nowhere did it say Clickair on my printout). But I was forced to check in at Clickair where I was issued with a BP with a Claickair flight number although it did have my BAEC number and IB flight number printed on this too. I was a bit annoyed about this but then went through security and to the IB lounge... only to be told that I was not allowed access as it was a Clickair flight! (If you are top tier IB FFP then you can have IB lounge access when flying Clickair)
I asked to speak to someone but the IB lounge staff refused and said they would call security if I did not leave!
I did not try to check in with IB on my return leg or gain lounge access at the IB lounge in VLC. I couldn't deal with the stress.
Can anyone let me know if this is right for Oneworld alliance partners to do this? Surely it goes against the principles of the alliance and reciprocal arrangements for learning miles and lounge access with member airlines?
Has anyone else has similar issues?

Welcome to Flyer Talk UKBADGER
Unfortunately that is how codeshares work.
Check in etc is handled by the operating airline. The reason for this is the codeshare airline may not have a presence at that airport, or may even be in different terminals.
As for lounge access - as you are not on a one world flight, you can't use OW status to use the lounge. (There are exceptions for open door - if the lounge was a BA operated one, and as you've found out the codeshare airline IB allows its own elites to use the lounge.)

BA Gold gets you BA lounge access, even when not flying OW, so you should have used the much nicer BA lounge rather than trying unsuccessfully to get into the IB lounge. But this is the con with codeshares (sell you a product different from what you think you are buying).

Although the lounge dragons at LGW seem to think Clickair is a charter flight and thus you aren't allowed, as a Gold, to enter the lounge. A bit of argie-bargie and we made it, but only to terraces, not F! Ugh!!
