CX - QF Comparison

Can anyone share a recent comparison of CX and QF in Business Class? The segments cites in question are HKG- SYD and SYD and HKG?

IF you can choose which is better? What ate the advantages?

Thanks,

six to one, half a dozen to the other

I prefer QF in general, but on that route there is not enough difference between them, IMO, to make a clear cut choice one way or the other, so I just go for the one with the schedule that suits me better that day.

Agree that they are interchangeable on that route. Similar seat comfort, similar food quality. I typically choose CX on that route because the flight I like gets into SYD just a bit earlier than the QF flight.

Schedule wise CX is better as there are triple daily flights.

QF has the 744 which I like on the UD.

Service wise CX is better IMO

Quantity of food = CX is slightly more.

CX's I Check is an excellent service where QF doesn't have.

It is a close call, but I generally like CX, also the chance of opup is higher!

I edge towards CX on this route. I prefer the Skybed (travelling alone I feel more isolated from the PAX net to me in the Skybed and it feels longer) but the food on CX is better, the G&T is better and the service is more welcoming.

The downside to me is the lack of points upgrades to F (as a QFF SG and AA Plat) in CX.

Thank you for the feedback. I have learned that those who post hear really offer great advise and worth following.

I probably will use CX as it seems to be a toss up but a slight lean to them.

Definitely prefer the Skybed over the CX J.

I think it is a long enough flight that seat comfort is #1.

That said AVOD on CX is among the best out there. So also depends on whether you plan to sleep or not.

I just flew QF/CX and BA on a Circle pacific and least liked the BA J seat- too narrow and you feel the need to use the privacy screen on BA which just make your space seem even smaller.
AVOD on CX the best- QF and BA about similar

i travel with QF and CX both J class last Dec.Depart SYD by QF return by CX.

Its depend on what you need.

Because for CX they offer 3 routes a day while QF is only 2 routes.

For the food is similar but CX better because I am Asian people CX is more match me for the Asian food.

For the seat:If i have over night flight I will choose QF because CX seat is uncomfortable when seat is full flat I found all my body is slide lower and the armrest is fixed.

For the entertainment CX offer AVOD in all route while OF only in A330 aircraft

Overall I recommend take CX because the route and entertainment.

I don't find the QF Skybed to be any more comfortable than the existing CX business class seat and I sit in both constantly. Lots of others seem to but I just don't get it.

I flew on the new BA J seat about 10 days ago JNB-LHR and it is an improvement.

No, QF AVOD is available on all 747-400s as well (in addition to the A330-300s). QF127/128 SYD-HKG-SYD is operated by 747-400s.

Even if the QF aircraft has AVOD there is no guarantee that it will work oand teh selection is not as good as on CX I have found.

LOL!

Reminds me of MAD-SCL-MAD on LA. Yes, the screen is there, and the AVOD is also there, but half the time or more all you get is a blank screen and a 'sorry about that' from the [nice] FA.

Cant go wrong with either

Its the one route where I can never quite decide between QF and CX in J. Both are excellent.

I tend to go for QF because I prefer the seats (if an overnighter) and because it makes a change from nearly always flying CX. I also like the do it yourself bar concept as well.

As for AVOD on QF in February worked fine on an A330-300. My only comment being QF and CX must source it from the same place as the English Channels for both TV and Radio were eerily similar. I even asked the Purser!

One thing you may consider I have a suspicion the Business Class FA's on Qantas are moonlighting from their regular somelier jobs. They tend to be very knowledgeble regarding Aussie wines!
