How long for waitlist to clear when there is an availiable fare class

Follwo-on for earlier post.
BA in MRU have ticketed my AONE4 today.
One sector CX 412, HKG-ICN on 11th June is on waitlist in D class (2 class aircraft) with Cathay. BA in MRU confirmed that they are a small operation and they don't always see the full CX inventory. I spoke to Cathay in London and have told me that there is plenty of D availibility and they can see my waitlist request from BA.

I don't understand why the waitlist does not clear instantly. The waitlist has been in my reservation several days and I ticketed today. How long should I leave it before I need to get worried. Are these requests considered automatically or do actual people look at them, or do they just disappear into black hole.

As we said in the other thread, don't wait. Call CX and get confirmed now. All you need is the ticket number and they'll be able to find the reservation.

Cathay Pacific Availibility (merged threads)

Further to my earlier posts regarding a waitlisting on HKG-ICN on 11Jun on my AONE4.

I have waited a week and it has not come up, so I made some further enquires. I emailed CX this morning. They replied promptly to inform me that all seats on all flights to Seoul on that day are sold out. That represents 5 wide body aircraft and booking over 2 months in advance. CAN THIS BE REAL !!!

I called BA in London, they have zero's accross the board on all flights in all classes on that day.

I look on expert flyer and there is loads of seats on all flights.

If make a dummy booking on CathayPacific.com one way HKG-ICN on the 11th Jun and there is availability on every flight.

Any ideas or possible explaination ?

I really don't no what the problem is here. All of the CX flights from HKG to ICN on June 11, 2007 are wide open in all classes. The only CX flight with a F cabin is CX410 and there is A space on that flight on that day.

If the CX agent was correct (as suggested by you remaining unbooked) it sounds like another chapter in the unfolding saga of selective availability. Seats are available, but not to YOU. Not you personally, of course, but people flying on your kind of ticket purchased in the place you bought yours. Or something like that.

If so, until the services like EF make available all the caveats that go with the availability listings, they've just become much less useful.

To see one or more CX flights zeroed out for a day or more is not unusual. Normally it's a temporary glitch, or by design but definitely not related in any way to a particular type of fare and not an indication that the flight(s) is sold out. It happens all the time with some routes so I'd suggest to the OP patience and to persevere, because the availability will most probably be there, eventually.

Could this be a possible explaination...

I am ticketed on an BA originating 125.... e-ticket. So the seats available for me to book are what BA can see. It was confirmed this morning that BA can see no availibility on that day on any flight in any class, the BA agent I spoke to was of the view that CX has not released any seats to them for that day.

Is it that CX will only release a seat out of what BA have been allocated.

No, because CX also told you all flights were zeroed out.

Viajero I missed your earlier post and perhaps that is the reason.

Yes, CX did also tell me that is no seats this morning. Are they telling the whole truth ? My Conspiracy theory is that there are seats but not for BA customers at this time.

Expertflyer shows full availability at this moment and you could book any flight for that day on line this minute.

Unlikely. As said, sometimes, some reservation systems see all zeros for some CX flights. I have no idea why, but it clears. Just hang in there, and keep pestering them until you get a seat.
