BA will no longer allow D Class waitlist

THIS THREAD on the BA Forum does not sound like good news for OWE tickets.

This would indeed be bad, and not just for RTW tickets. BA does seem to be going out of its way to try to annoy as many customers as possible of late. Then again, the upcoming strikes should whittle the overall number of customers down substantially...

The waitlist hasn't worked correctly for years. Maybe BA has finally acknowledged that it cannot provide this service correctly (for any fare class); if they allow it for other fares, probably it is being done manually. Their computer process for it was deeply flawed (and apparently BA decided not to spend the money to fix it, or to keep lying to pax and pretend that the service is being offered -- maybe the increasing transparency of fare inventory was causing them too much grief).

That's very bad. A DONEx involving JNB-LHR would now need to be booked 330 days out and bad luck if need to change dates

I have been holding BA D waitlists (2 pax) on CPT-LHR for Jan '07 since about April '06. Fortunately I had set up ExpertFlyer alerts on these, so I got notified when D inventory opened. It's just now been slowly opening on different dates (when less than a month away) and the AA RTW desk is able to grab them when I see it available, and they had no explanation why the waitlists didn't clear... I guess this explains it!
