OneWorld Award Open Jaw (on different continents)
Is it possible to use a OW Award that has an open jaw on different continents? We are looking at taking a transatlantic cruise in 2008 and our routing would be ORD-GIG (cruise) BCN-ORD. I know we can have an open jaw in the award, just not sure if I can split it like this.
Cheers!

The "total countable trip miles" of an itinerary does not include any land segments.
However both ends of the OJ count as stopovers.
Don't forget the 2+ AA rule on carriers for the OW award (presumably AA+LA+IB?)

That is exactly what we would do - AA & LA from ORD to GIG and the IB from BCN-ORD. Getting to GIG will be a pain (double connection) but the flight from BCN is a direct flight (at least it is in 2006!).
And, it is correct that only the mileage between the origin and destination are counted. That's the way they calculated our OW100F award for July 2007 where we are starting our cruise in CPH and ending in ARN.
