DXB a OW hub?
OW seem to claim that DXB is a OW hub:
The only way to get from SIN to DXB is to either connect in HKG on CX or use a GF and fly using the QF codeshare. We all know GF is not a OW member nor will is likely ever be.
Interesting to see which routes have had large capacity increases.

Interesting that the 3 Eastern Australian Capitals have all made it into the top 10 with their flight to SIN.
I wouldn't consider DXB a hub. perhaps if QF starts a service via SIN, and another Euro carrier serves DXB.

Actually Oneworld needs DXB to fail as a hub ... OW is committed to SIN, BKK and HKG (and soon to be NRT) for long-haul hubs and AMM (and NRT) for short-haul hub. Any traffic via DXB is business out of OW's pocket for the most part.

Thanks to Emirate's success, Dubai is certainly a major hub. And OneWorld airlines fly there, although as noted they sometimes lose onward passengers to Emirates there. But regardless of that, if it's not already the Heathrow of the middle east it's heading that direction, and OW wants to make sure travelers know you can get there on them.

This is just a personal preference, but I find the location of DXB annoying, it breaks up the flight and my sleep (I sleep well on flights). I much rather hub out of LHR, than half way thru the flight. As I said though personal preference, I also don't happen to think EK is all its cracked up to be.

There's no claim in that article that DXB is a oneworld hub - it's London that's the oneworld hub on that route (and also SIN-DXB as well, it's SIN that's the oneworld hub). Of course, how much of that increase in traffic is due to oneworld carriers is another matter altogether (not nearly as much as EK is responsible, that's for sure!).
