HKG - SIN : OW options
Am I right that the only OW option that I have between HKG and SIN is CX ?
I ask as there are return rates available for HKG1,200 (+ taxes, return) on their site, but this fare, and the next 2 lowest, don't earn QF miles and Status Credits (as are in Q, S and N).
I am not happy that I will have to pay over twice the price (total of 2,800) just to be able to get something for the flights, but this is the only OW options I have on the route isn't it ? If there is another option I have missed I'd love to know. (QF people - I can't earn SCs and miles on Jet* Asia can I ?).
If not I'll just fly UA (for 2/3 the price), and get miles on my UA *A account and the added benefit of being put in E+.
Thanks all for your help.

Actually, you can also do AY, but they have a poor schedule and would probably require an overnight in BKK, I think in both directions. There is an AY/CX I fare ex-BKK, something like US$200, for the BKK-SIN RT. I paid about US$170 for BKK-HKG in coach on AY, but that also was ex-BKK.

Thank for the info guys, much appreciated
And yes you are right, AY do indeed fly HKG - BKK and BKK - SIN but it really is a long way round and as you say the schedules mean it is not practical unless you have time to waste. (The price is about the same, all told, as the CX option I have anyway). AY website won't anyway let you book HKG-BKK-SIN, btw.
I will at some point have to take up one of those super cheap AY HKG-BKK J fares, great value, though it won't work for this trip sadly.
And a shame indeed QF no longer flying the route.
UA it is then...

I was on a UA service the other week from HKG and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It had been recently refurbished so it almost felt new. The only thing I could fault was the food, but for a 2 1/2 hour flight it really did not matter much. I even got an op-up with my *G card on one of the sectors along with my partner.

(Especially when it means flying a low-cost carrier). I'd rather pay a little more and get miles towards UA status etc, E+ seating... and that possible Op-Up !
Thanks again all. Appreciated.
