Why's Aadvantage confused about Cathay codes?
Last August I flew CMB-HKG-LAX as part of an AONEx. CMB-HKG was in D, of course. When I eventually faxed the Aadvantage desk to request credit for those segments, they gave me the HKG-LAX at their usual pace, but no CMB-HKG.
After a couple more rounds of faxing and waiting I finally got a postcard asking me to send the ticket receipt. I'd been faxing that each time, but assumed they were saving money on toner and couldn't read it, so I sent along a copy per their request.
I was surprised to get another of their postcards today, explaining while they could give miles for any first or business class fare, the discount coach fares weren't eligible.
The ticket receipt clearly shows D for that segment; the boarding passes show J. What do you suppose is their hangup, and is there a solution?
